The Opponent

Playing in the front half of back-to-back games against Central Division foes, the Ottawa Senators come to St. Paul on a two-game losing skid.

Ottawa lost 4-1 to St. Louis on Thursday, then 4-3 to Toronto on Saturday and has dropped three of its past four overall dating back to Jan. 9. The Senators will get a second opportunity against the Blues on Tuesday night in St. Louis before heading home to play Boston in its final game before the All-Star break.

Minnesota won the other matchup between the clubs this season, scoring three third-period goals in a 6-4 victory at the Canadian Tire Centre on Dec 19. The Wild trailed 3-1 in the second period of that one, but scored five unanswered in the second and third periods to secure the win.

Wild forward Eric Staal had two goals and an assist in the game, and Charlie Coyle, Ryan Suter and Nate Prosser also registered multi-point nights. Alex Stalock made 28 saves in place of an injured Devan Dubnyk.

Mark Stone leads the Sens with 18 goals and 44 points this season. Erik Karlsson, who scored two goals in the matchup with Minnesota last month, has four goals and 31 points. Mike Hoffman has 12 goals and 30 points.

Goaltender Craig Anderson is 12-15-5 with a 3.24 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.

Yeah, a definite 'should' win. Crowd may be sparse...we have our tickets to the game but not really wanting to drive in for it.

Whatever the equipment crew put in our Gatorade bottles on Saturday, I sure hope they have some left over and more on re-order. More games like that, please.

Yeah it'll probably be a pretty small crowd tonight, at least for the first period.

Nino is out until the All-star game, correct?

Yep...so at least two more games. Lots of days off here at the end of Jan. Then a bunch packed in to Feb and March. Lots of back to backs.

Is it possible to have a 'sold out' crowd, but nobody in attendance?

Possible as long as they are sold. We sold ours on the exchange, and there were tons on there...but they are all considered sold. It'd be funny to announce a sellout with a few thousand in the seats.

Alright!!!! Parise lights the lamp right away!

And there appears to be quite a few people there. I mean no where close to full, but for the amount of headaches traveling it seems pretty good.
