More than "disappointment". The fact is this team is not playing well. The "inability to make a pass disease" has returned, as has the "who really cares about battles along the boards" flu, and the "look there is an open puck, I am sure someone else will get it" fever have all returned with a vengance. This team is not playing well.

I agree. If they were playing well and losing, well that's the way it goes sometimes. But when you play poorly that's a different story.

Teams go through bad stretches during an 82-game season. It happens. I'd be surprised if they didn't play harder after the All-Star break. Ultimately I think the Jackets end up as the first wild card team - the streak was great, but in reality they are probably in the 7-10 range in the Eastern Conference. Fortunately their play through the first half of the season was so good they have a nice cushion.

When did Nashville adopt the the classy "you suck" chants after goals? Has this always been a thing for them? :tmi:

It has pretty much always been a thing. It's simply a chant to get the fans going. We don't really think Bobrovsky sucks. It's also a bit embarrassing when say we're down 0-5 and we're chanting that the opposing goalie sucks. But mostly, the chants are fun and create what hockey fans from around the league almost always agree is a great environment, so we continue it.

It was done by some dedicated fans trying to bring a "college football" atmosphere to a brand new hockey team in a market where they weren't sure it would stick. The fans were in Section 303, which was dubbed "the cellblock," a moniker which still exists to this day.

If you have a few minutes, it's really an entertaining read (or skim as you prefer):
