The opponent​

Coming off a 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers in the 2018 Bridgestone Winter Classic on Monday at Citi Field in New York, the Buffalo Sabres will open a three-game road trip Thursday at Xcel Energy Center.
Minnesota won the first meeting of the season between the clubs 5-4 on Nov. 22 at KeyBank Center. Nino Niederreiter and Mikael Granlund each scored two goals, and former Sabre Tyler Ennis also had a goal for the Wild. Ryan Suter and Mikko Koivu added two assists apiece.
The Wild is 12-7-2 against the Sabres in franchise history, but just three of those wins have come in St. Paul (3-5-2).
For Buffalo, Jack Eichel and Evander Kane are tied for the team lead with 15 goals apiece. Eichel (35 points) has one more point than Kane.
Robin Lehner has been solid in goal, posting a .916 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.75 to go with a record of 9-14-6.

Buffalo isn't a good team, but the Wild can't overlook them tonight. Homecoming game for Scandella/Pommer (he was here long enough imo) and teams tend to rally around that and try to win for them.

I'm not expecting much from either Nino or Parise tonight. Get a lead early and roll all 4 lines, close game will lead to line juggling.
