Tonight, the 27-9-4 Winnipeg Jets take on the 12-27-2 Chicago Blackhawks at Canada Life Centre at 7:00pm CST. The Jets are coming off of a 5-0 shutout victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets and are now 9-0-1 in their last ten games, including winners of seven straight. The Blackhawks lost 2-1 to the Edmonton Oilers and are now 2-7-1 in their last ten games. The series has been split so far, with Winnipeg winning at home 3-1 at the beginning of December, while Chicago won 2-1 in overtime in the Windy City just after Christmas. The Blackhawks will be without Connor Bedard, who will be out with a broken jaw, and is not expected to return for some time. Can the Jets continue their winning ways, or will Chicago disrupt their streak? Can Goal Perfetti actually smile for once, or is he the new Jonathan Toews? Will @dcypher get their wish and see a “wave” starting at the ol' barn tonight? These questions and more got buried in all that snow we received yesterday...

This is the true trap game.
My worries exactly. It's got all the classic elements for a giant face plant in front of a home audience. Or is that just my prairie fatalism?

One poster here suggested that when the Jets amazing streak comes to an end - when not if - and we eventually lose a game, he fans should applaud that it lasted as long as it did.

Great GDT there @macmaroon! Even tho I don't watch the show I got a good laugh out of it.

Gooooood morning!!!!

The Jets finally getting a bit more attention nationally:

The record all-time for games surrendering 3 or less is the Bruins at 44 games but that was the 28-29 season. I think modern day is 36 games.

There was one really stupid thing written in this article (only one!)

They talk about our defensive dominance and show a nice graphic of zone entries, slot shots and high danger chances, and then go on to say a big part of our defensive dominance is our goaltending 🧐.

Unless our goalies are stepping up at the blue line and putting sticks in lanes, that is a silly thing to say. You can be defensively dominant yet have a poor ga or in our case in seasons past, be poor defensively yet still have a good ga. Defensive play can be correlative but not necessarily causative.

However, we are .69 goals scored against below expected which is kind of huge.

At any rate, what a run. Let's keep it going tonight!

Nice GDT @macmaroon, thank you.

The Hawks are in a sorry state, lots of injuries, and its so easy to take the foot off the gas. I'd like to see some first period Jets goals and put them away early.

In other obvious thoughts, its time to fire up my snowblower.

Behold the Drift King 9000
