I still cringe at the news about Gerard Gallant's unceremonious firing from Florida despite a 11-10-1 record. A mere phone call from the Florida owner after a loss at Carolina and a taxi ride later, he was gone. (Gallant was forced to get his own ride to the airport after a defeat in Carolina.)

Despite the indignity of his firing, he maintained his composure and magnanimity. (A nice contact extension before the firing certainly helped to ease the pain, however.)

Don Cherry, Canadian blowhard (but also an insightful hockey analyst) had this to say about Gallant's firing from Florida:

Frank Sinatra, reportedly a big VGK fan who watches from the Casino in the Sky, once said, "The best revenge is massive success."

I now watch game results in the Western Division, also. Looks like the ANA Ducks lost in OT to Caps from a blistering wicked slap shot from Ovechkin that somehow beat Gibson.

Good to see both LA and ANA lose. Unfortunately, both teams did manage a loser point.

Although I probably won't be able to watch the game today, I do wish the team well. They should be able to get the two points.

Unfortunately, they have real challenges against Tampa and the Caps later this week (fortunately, both at home). Tampa has played really well and many are predicting a Tampa-Preds Stanley Cup Final. Tampa leads the league with 50 points.

The Caps have been on a tear, also. They lead the super-competitive Metro with 42 points. (Only eight points separate the first place team from the last place team.)

So, hopefully the Knights will get their two points today before facing stiffer competition later this week.

Stay hungry, Knights! Get those easy points when you can.
