Goal and assist for Zucc, 19 points in 17 games now, 26th place in league. Almost 37yo, playing for peanuts compared to the others yet still outscores everybody, but people here only shits on him all year, every year. Disgraceful.

I have always liked him, but I also get what drives people mad about him. For all of his offense, doesn't shoot when in prime position, he does give up a lot of turnovers, he isn't particularly good defensively, and he is signed to an age when he'll almost certainly drop off offensively. All the extra value he is creating right now with his offense vs. cap hit will be eaten up by how useless he'll probably be by the end of his next contract. For the record, and in his favor, he's not almost 37, he's barely past 36.

There's also one particular reason that people on this exact forum on the internet dislike Zuccarello. But that's not Zuccarello's fault, it's just misplaced anger/annoyance.

It's the fact that no matter the results, he and Kap are always glued together. Like it's written in their contracts. It's the longer leash. It's how both guys are locked into that top line no matter what. It's how they are never allowed enough time to gel with other linemates, because panic sets in and they are thrown right back together. That spark is NOT there right now.

I'd honestly sit Kap right now and send him to a specialist to find out what nagging injury he's dealing with, because he is a shell of his former self. But the two of them together is stale as can be, and it is NOT going to magically fix itself.

It's this, on top of the fact that he often doesn't shoot in prime positions, isn't that great defensively, loses a ton of puck battles (like most of them), forces a lot of bad passes, turns the puck over a lot, either isn't particularly engaged or just isn't quick enough to appear to be anymore. Despite all that he has a longer leash than anyone else in the history of this franchise.

But I guess to his credit, despite looking completely useless 80% of the time he's on the ice, he's still a point per game. I've never seen another player who can do that.

He's not only getting shit on... people have complimented him, especially for his work on the PP... that said... the team has lost 5 in a row, and literally everyone... including Zucc have contributed to those losses.

The Vikings have more wins on their season than the Wild, yet the Wild have played 8 more games on their season.

VERY FEW players on this roster deserve zero criticism. I can't think of a single one myself. Kap and Zucc's play together 5v5 looks predictable and stale, zero creativity... resulting in a lot of turnovers. Hence... despite having 19pts, he's still a minus 4. That's not just on his linemates.

Find me a team with a losing record and a -16 and counting goal differential with a PPG player, and I'll find you a PPG player contributing as much to those losses as anyone else on the roster.
