A win is a win. The Caps did not play well and managed to survive against a fired up Leafs team.

Against a fast team like this Orpik looked extra slow. This is the sort of series Schmidt is tailor made for.

DEAR LORD PLEASE

But really, the 1st and 3rd pairs looked out of sorts last night, mostly on Carlson and Orpik. Carlson clearly was slumping last night coming back from injury, and Orpik...well I don't need to say anything else. Adding in Schmidt and mixing things up a bit would be ideal for our D core in this series. It was a game we definitely woke up by the end of, so I'm not calling for anything extreme, but I think we all realize that playing Orpik is not the way past Toronto.

That being said, I liked a lot of what I saw, especially from the 2nd and 4th lines. Not sure why the whole team couldn't take clean shots and why Oshie seemed scared to have the puck, but otherwise, happy with it. Back out for Game 2 with less jitters and all will be good.
