The Winnipeg Jets take on the division rival St. Louis Blues in a 7:45pm start time at Canada Life Centre. The Blues have a record of 2-1-1 after a 4-2 home victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Jets, on the other hand, are 2-3-0 on the season after a come from behind overtime win against the Oilers in Edmonton. With the recent news about Judy Bowness, will this affect the play of the Jets tonight, or will they be inspired and win one for her. Can interim head coach Scott Arniel have a game plan that can have St. Louis singing the Blues? Will the later start time cause attendance to fall even further?

But the big question is: why is the game starting at 7:45pm? I can see 7:30pm and even 8:00pm, but 7:45pm for a regular season game in Winnipeg? Really? Well, my crack staff of investigative reporters dug deep and asked Gary Bettman himself what was up with such a strange start time...

Next we asked Bill Daly if the start time had something to do with his favourite music video...

He suggested we talk with Steve Hatze-Petros, the NHL's Senior Vice-President of Scheduling, but that got us nowhere, as all he could talk about was his favourite movie...

Since the crack staff was in New York already, they went to visit Gerhardt Hapsburg, the Duke of Thuringia and Earl of Westphalia, to see if he could shed any light as to why the odd start time...

At this point, my staff told me to give up and take a nap. My response...

I was not going to give up, so I did my own sleuthing. In a conversation with @bustamente on the weekend, the answer was revealed...

The reason for the weird start time is that all 32 teams are playing on Tuesday and there will be staggered starts across the league.”

In any event, enjoy the game tonight! Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bowness family, get well soon!

I don't mind the staggered start times. But I bet you have to add 7-10 minutes for every start time listed in the NHL. I'm guessing the times reflect the pregame stuff just prior to puck drop. Now if the start times are actual puck drops, then I actually approve this plan and don't mind it. If not it defeats the purpose because the length of the pregame stuff varies with each market.

My apologies, I can't squeeze in the sonnet as my duties to work are literally out of control.

Will shoot for late afternoon.

Go Jets, hammer the Snooze!!

In for @kanadalainen, a substitute in scrubs, a quick few verses, from dear old Romeo, with a Jets twist...

These Jets, no cloak to hide their leaky D
Dear Blues, snipe not, lest Croissant let 'em in
This contest were better ended by KFC
Than prorogued to OT, where Lowry lumbers on

Exahusted. Line 1 lacks Villardi whose MCL did tweak
And brave young Ville -- you will not find him here
But doughty Scheif and Guffalo, of constant beard
Provide yet some offence, though oft late in game

So take heed, Perfetti, and convert thee shots to goals
Lest third periods should find you wistful on the bench
As Pionk, Lord of Chaos, labours hemmed within his zone
With Schmidt, or Dillon, aging swains of Puck

But look! Kupari! Speeding on sharp blades
Curls right, now left! A deke! A fake! Hot sauce
To stalwart Barron, long-haired and scarred of cheek
Here fends, there shovels; alack! A dirty goal!

Collapse not ye Jets! Second per'iods are not for sleep
But for defending leads, and adding to them
Hit hard! Pass cleanly! Thou soon will find
Two points, affixed to standings, a ceaseless climb

Towards the playoffs, that distant shore
Where gather fans in bright jerseys
And @kanadalainen, who foresaw all this
In October. Too busy to make poesie
But not, I think, to cheer.

Don't frickern blow this one, yon Jets, dagnabbit!!!

This is not the right forum for this comment but I can't find the right one right now and I'm bursting to share this.

This is the new logo for the PWHL and it's so foxing cool I can't focus on my thesis until I share this with practically everyone I know!

I love it!!!!!!

When I have seen by Bin's glove hand defaced
And Blues’ outworn and time-crusted age;
When sometime Blue towers I see down-razed
And their busted asses gives rise to Berube’s rage;
When I have seen our hungry fanbase gain
Advantage on the kingdom of “goals for”,
And the firm soil win of the frozen water main,
Continued scores quelling loss and goals well stored;
When I have seen such interchange of state,
Or Kyrou himself confounded to decay;
Ruin hath taught me thus to ruminate,
That Jets hath come for playoffs here to stay.
This thought is as a drawn breath, sweet, bemused
Wield Helly for this fight, which we must not lose.
