And the process matters too, especially for young players.
I’m just saying, people were up in arms because Rossi wasn’t playing with them. Results matter when you’re trying to make the playoffs. Johansson and Zucc are not a good mesh with Rossi. They are too soft and pushovers when it comes to puck battles. Not to mention turnover prone. Rossi’s game thrives on maintaining possession in the offensive zone.

The top line has been a no-show tonight. Can't win games if they're not clicking. Rossi was at least trying (most shots on the team) but Johansson has been playing crappy all season and Zucc is Zucc - a PP specialist who should be playing limited minutes on 5vs5.

But I'm sure Rossi is going to be demoted again because -3 - the other two will of course will conrtnue to be top 6 forwards on the team.

I think it's two games in a row the top line hasn't factored in at all, two losses. This is the problem with being a one line team, which the Wild very much were/are during the win streak, is when that line isn't on, you don't win. If the lack of scoring continues, you gotta put one of Boldy or Kaprizov on Rossi's wing to spread out some offense and get something going.

I imagine Khusnutdinov is viewed as a center but maybe it would be beneficial for the team to bring him in as a winger on one of those top six lines, with Hartman playing the other line. Dewar 3C, Gaudreau 4C.

I might try

Kaprizov-Rossi-Hartman
Khusnutdinov-Ek-Boldy
Foligno-Dewar-Zuccarello
Johansson-Gaudreau-Maroon/Shaw

Zuc is awesome regular season but down the stretch....too slow, small..always on his behind.

People were up in arms because Rossi was buried and wasted on the 4th line playing garbage minutes. Nobody wants him to play with Johansson. It’s not a good fit like you said. They should finally put Hartmann on his wing which was what people were actually asking for and relegate Johansson. I still think that could be effective. Hartman plays Rossi‘s game. I mean let’s be honest: they tried almost every possible combination of players. What’s one more little tweak? It might stick.

Yeah, I think the Rossi on the bottom lines experiment can end, it obviously isn't working (unless the idea was to make Rossi an assertive line driver). This team loses any time it's top line gets shut down, so I think they need to just focus on having 2 scoring lines, and the other two lines can just try their best not to get scored on. Johansson - Zuccarello can't be the rest of that 2nd line, though. I still think Hartman - Rossi - Zuccarello is the best bet for a 2nd line out of the guys who are healthy right now.

I did not love the games that Chisholm and Brodin had. Chisholm gets a bit of a pass because he's very new to the league, but I expect stronger defense from Brodin. Everyone has an off day sometimes, so I'm not too upset with him or anything, he just needs to be better next game.
