Always difficult to project goalies - and he's passed through two drafts already - but Mercer is headed to the Memorial Cup and there is almost no mention of him on these boards.

Are his numbers just the result of playing on a championship team or is he worth a team giving him a look?

Remember a time when some of the top goalies came at of the Q (perhaps because there wasn't much defending in the league).

Now it seems rare.

The thing with Mercer is he can't seem to find the focus to play against weaker teams. Last year Drummondville shocked the Q with a surprise series win in 5 against Victoriaville and their goalie, which was named the best goaltender in the CHL last year. Yet, Mercer outplayed him in the playoffs. Same thing happened this year in semi finals against the same team and the same goaltender, and he was lights out in the finals.

He is a very good goaltender and also great with the puck. It seems that he thrives when there's pressure to win. He is almost too nonchalant. He needs to find consistency in his game because it seems he's only elite when it counts oddly enough.

Yes and I had wrongly assumed they signed him. Somebody will. Dude has skill and is a money goalie in the Q. Someone will bring him along

You'd think with Dawson in New Jersey and the Devils well-chronicled issues in net he would have at least received a development camp invite. They invited Jesper Bratt's brother two years ago and he plays in Sweden's third league.

Two losses to start Memorial Cup and gaa over 4.00.

In his defense, some of the structural breakdowns by the Volts have left him out to dry.

Not the start to the tournament he wanted.
