When you state something like the bolded in the first post you made as fact, you'll get the response you did. If you had said "in my opinion" or "he will be hard to trade" then we would have had an intelligent conversation.
The fact is, he can be traded. There is nothing that says he can't be. The question however isn't can he or can't he be traded, but whether the Ducks are willing to pay the price to trade him. There is a difference (and a huge one at that) in those two statements.
Yes, it is completely insured.
The way insurance works is that the league takes out the policy as a group and each individual team is allowed to insure 8 players under that policy - typically the top 8 salaries on your team since that's where you can lose most of your money as an owner.
No one know what's the situation with him and his 5 year contract just started. But okay let's create trades around him because its so likely.
Despres+ Lindholm for 2nd round pick?
-How many teams in the league would like to trade for Despres today?
-How many teams in the league would like to trade for Despres while sending pretty much zero cap back today?
-How many of those teams could trade for Despres today while sending only ELC level contract back today?
-How likely is it that Murray would be fine with paying that price?
5 year contract with a 3.7M cap hit on a player who's fighting with bad concussion problems, started the season but can't play right now. His game has looked bad for some time.
No one wants to trade for that in the 1st place, then add Anaheim needs cap help desperately. I'll be damm surprised if Despres gets moved.
I'd rather just keep thinking about Fowler or Vatanen.
