In puljujarvi’s 19 yr old season (17/18) he had 10 evg (#191 fwd) in 65 gm.
M. Tkachuk 19 yr old season (16/17) he had 10 evg (#191 fwd) in 76gm.

The kid shows expected top 6 potential.

The next yr PC and Tmac gave out Mcdavid even time like this.
Drai 805:37
Kassian 428:37
RNH 376:03
Chaisson 284:12
Rattie 243:59
Caggulia 141:31
Lucic 98:34
Yamamotto 89:01
Puljujarvi 66:46
Khaira 64:34
He was the 3rd prospect ( Caggulia, Yamamotto) in evmin. Treated like a 4 th line fwd.

His linemates that yr.
RNH 241:46
Khaira 156:18
Lucic 126:40
Caggulia 82:15
Drai 74:25
Reider 73:18
Strome 68:46
Mcdavid 66:46
Brodziak 57:43
Cave 33:52
Spooner 22:18
Mgmt was telling the kid to leave.

Age 22 is Desjardins (Creator of age NHLe) performance measure yr for any prospect.
Better chance of Good Center options this yr.
Mcdavid, Drai, RNH, Turris.

Many say Turris was not suited for NSH style of play.
When it came to evg/gm and evp/gm
OTT .445 EVPPG/ NSH .346 = 28.6% better in OTT.
OTT .219 EVGPG/ NSH .099 = 121.2% better in OTT
Turris was a #3 fwd (top 93) in OTT.

That is 4 top 3 pick Centers to get even minutes with.
We do have strong evg depth at fwd.
Last 2 yr.
Drai #4 58 evg
Mcdavid #7 fwd 54evg
RNH #66 fwd 34 evg
Kassian #102 fwd 29 evg
Archibald #169 fwd 22 evg
Ennis #180 fwd 21 evg.
Jp 10 evg in 65 gm suggest top 140 evg production.

Oilers are a young team, role players are beneficial to them.

I would pull trigger on this trade. It could benefit both teams.

Foegele has shown to be a very solid 2-way and Pulju is a very risky player for the Oilers (he isn't strong roleplayer/2-way and he isn't a setup guy for McD/Drai either). Because of the connections to especially Aho, Canes might benefit from Puljujärvi much more than Oilers.

Even if Pulju had 35-40pts as a 3rd liner for Oilers, I might still consider Foegele to be more valuable replacement.

Foegele was pacing for 15-16 goals and 36 points in the shortened season so let’s just say 15g, 20a, 35p. He’s also physical and good defensively. JP would have to be more than a 40-45 point player for it to be worth it from a Carolina perspective and if he was was a good bet for 50+ points then the oilers aren’t trading him. Also keep in mind that Foegele is still developing and could easily become a 45-50 point player (maybe even more) with all those extras that he brings. So really JP would need to show the ability to be even better than that, which again Edmonton wouldn’t be trading.

Foegele is the exact type of guy Edmonton needs in their bottom/middle 6..... so I’m gonna say they wouldn’t do it....cuz Edmonton
Maybe we should’ve signed Faulk to an outrageous contract and lost our best defenseman over it, cuz Blues.

Foegele is a role player. Puljujarvi has top 6 potential. Makes no sense for the Oilers.
But Puljujarvi also has bust potential. It's about 50-50 on what happens.
With Foegele you have a clearer idea on what your getting.
Not sure on what i would do in this situation from both teams point of view.

Is this HFboards? Did I come to the wrong place? Because on HFboards prospects are are worth more than NHL players, because potential...

Puljujarvi for Fleury, who says no?
Canes.

Fleury has already played a top four role for the previous regime, got knocked down back to the minors because his coach prefers vets and has worked his way all the way back again and proven to his coach he can play top four again.

Pp is still a project, and didn’t look significantly different in any of the highlights I saw of him in Finland. I don’t see him worth more than a 2nd/3rd round pick. Very awkward looking player to me still, hard to say he’s going to figure it out at all. Great hands, skates like a moose on ice.

I'll take the same angle many non-Oiler thread starters take with player they are offering the Oilers...

'Puljujarvi will easily get 30g + 30a playing with Aho... they have proven chemistry.' The Hurricanes would have to offer more than Foegele. :sarcasm:

Anyways, listen, most Oiler fans realize that JP does hold the value he would have had he just been drafted 4OA... but I think we are all comfortable saying we are perfectly fine hanging on to him to see what he has, now that he has matured in all areas as a player and person. He didn't earn much of an opportunity the last time we saw him in the NHL but he was then harnessed with very little talent to utilize his offensive skills - just a bad situation all around.

Foegele doesn't make me think about changing my mind on the potential of Puljujarvi.

I believe Puljujarvi will be a 20 + 20 in the NHL this coming year... as a 22 year old.
