25th + 29th + Scandella for Laughton.
Makes no sense for the blues. Everything that our GM recently said in an interview doesn't really support us trading for Laughton. His contract is good but the blues are looking for players 26 and younger apparently which Laughton is not. Plus our defense sucks so trading our 2 late firsts for a 3C doesn't make sense

That might make a little more sense if Laughton was about 5 years younger, but for a team that is actively trying to be bad for a few years, seems like passing up on good value to keep a player who’s not going to be a core piece when they’re competitive.

A couple years ago I remember a reporter saying that Adams was telling teams if they didn’t have a top 20 pick in the draft they were out on Ristolainen. It sounded completely insane. He was traded for the 14th (really 13th) pick and a 2nd later that day.

It happens.

Briere doesn’t turn it down if he doesn’t know there is better on the table

IF this is true, it goes down as inexperienced manager growing pains, and Briere is currently trying to figure out why they just threw him out of the “GM Group Text.” Another manager will explain it to him, and they’ll let him back in after the draft.

That 2nd is the #39th pick in this year's draft. :(

Seravalli is talking out of his ass like usual here. No way Briere turns down a 1st for Laughton given what he got for Provolov. This screams BS thrown at the wall to get clicks to me

Reported on the DFO Rundown podcast today by Seravelli.

Said Armstrong really liked him at the Worlds and made the offer of 25th or 29th and a future 2nd which Briere turned down.
He does not have that kind of value. Probably in pool Ed retaining.

Laughton is much cheaper than Provorov, and has an extra year of term. That's makes him more attractive for a lot of teams.

Didn't realize he was valued low by lots of people. He's pretty good for his role and a good contract. That's worth a good amount.

Driving up his price. Laughton is the type every contender wants for a run and Flyers have no reason to trade him. Come deadline they could possibly get a haul. He's signed for a few more years and they're just now going into a rebuild so there's no rush to do it; no need to trade unless it's for overpayment.

They traded provorov pratically for the same price ( if considerating value of cap dump) but not enough for laughton.... mmm not sure i really understand whats going on

That's interesting. Obviously trading for Laughton makes no sense for a team that isn't really planning on making the playoffs for 2 or 3 years.

Cap hits matter a lot in a flat cap league. It's pretty obvious, tbh.

A top 3 d in Provorov at 4,75 of cap hit or a middle 6 player at 3M... not sure cap hit its really a good reason lol
