Trying to wrap my head around some things.

First off, this has been in the works, it has to be all season. All the talk from the Anaheim end is how Verbeek has been brutally difficult to work with. Not in an unfair and horrible way, but he’s a grinder.

As a result, there was talk before that Drysdale was unhappy because the year he was injured, he reportedly was able to play prior to that season ending but the Ducks did not activate him because it burned a year from his ELC, and that made contract negotiations contentious. He didn’t sign until the season started.

Of course you know they prioritized getting a player now back. Granted Drysdale shouldn’t have been in the NHL that entire time but it hasn’t been good at all with what he’s done so far. He’s young still but there also just is a possibility he’s just not that good.

This is a good point. They had 2.5 years to make this trade. You lose leverage the more this goes but I’m sure more teams are in on him at the draft.
