Another RHD with size. Gives us depth obviously. Can this guy skate at all?
Think Chris Butler but with better offensive ability? But better is really relative.
Butler was one of the most offensively inept d-men I've ever seen play in the NHL, but the guy was an elite shot-blocker and stick-checker. If Potter can bring any of that defensiveness awareness and can actually make a pass or score a goal, this is a good signing. Remember I said "if".
*Waits for Oiler fans to come in and laugh at us*
I think this is a depth signing for the AHL group. We needed some veteran presence down there.
Assuming this is for the AHL (which I think it is, because I think Brookbank will be signed to be the #7), then this is a good signing for the ADK Flames. He will provide AHL leadership and give them a 30-40 point pace from the blueline.Should make AdirondackFlames happy, in that case.
I think this signing was the right type of signing for us. This isn't a guy we're pencilling into our ideal lineup, but it prevents us from being forced into putting guys in out of their depth in the case of injuries.
