Apparently he can skate backwards, and forwards! He's a warm body who can stand up on skates and hold a stick. Anything more is a bonus, eh!

Average to slightly above-average, both offensively and defensively in my limited viewings, and appears to have reasonably good on-ice awareness with no glaring weakness so far. Playing in college also helped the overall maturity to his game.

"Safe" would be the best way that I could describe him.

I'm definitely very confused about the love for Mackey. Not sure what he does well.

I can't help but to think he's getting slept on a tad.

- 28 of 31 NHL teams expressed interest in signing him coming out of college.
- Stepped into a poor Stockton team last season and was immediately the most complete player on the roster resulting in being named to the All Star team
- Got a brief taste in Calgary and certainly didn't look out of place whatsoever in his 6 games.
- Finished the year on the US WC team on way to a bronze medal.

He's 24 years old. He's ready to step in and make an impact. I don't think he has one direct stand out trait, but he's certainly an extremely well rounded player that can contribute positively in most if not all areas of the game.
