Flames Prospect Ranking #14

Ace Rimmer

Stoke me a clipper.
We did this last summer, lets do it again.

I am going to start with some guidelines.

To be considered a prospect in these polls they must be under 26 (as of July 1st, 2015) and have fewer than 80 games of NHL experience (including playoffs).

I will set polls to expire in 48 hours. After 48 hours a winner shall be declared unless the winner has less than a 10 vote lead. At which point there will be a 24-hour poll that pits against each other anyone within 5 votes of the leader. There will not be multiple runoff-polls so a win by 1 in a run-off poll will be final. After a winner is declared the next poll will be put up at my earliest convenience.

The current plan is vote on all 37 eligible prospects, but if participation dissipates it may stop sooner.

List of eligible prospects:
Agostino, Ken
Andersson, Rasmus
Arnold, Bill
Bennett, Sam
Bruce, Rily
Carroll, Austin

I don't see him being more than a third liner. Since when are third liners top prospects

Some people are convinced he has top 6 potential because he scored a couple empty netters to bloat his playoff stats

Big bodies with a scoring touch, when paired with the right players can be very effective(see Lucic). While I think it's a stretch to call Ferland a top 5 prospect, I'd love to see what a line of Ferland-Bennett-Frolik could do. It could be argued that Ferland had a more successful junior career than Lucic and that personal demons/injuries sidelined his development momentarily. I think he can still be a great complimentary player but time will tell. Regardless, he's got a unique skill set and if he puts it all together, he could be deadly, top 5 or not.

i remember sometime in the season Hartley saying Ferly could end being the next Lucic, but he definitely could just end up a fourth liner. Doesn't make him a top 5 prospect but definitely in the top 15

Lol at Ferland top 5

I don't know what happened here on HF. Probably vocal posters just repeating the same thing over and over just makes it looks bloated; but Ferland is a good prospect with some upside.

At the lowest Ferland will be a great 4th liner, best case his hands catch up to the NHL and he becomes a good middle sixer with some size, speed and nasty. He was good in the playoffs, and now being sober and on the right path... It's hard not to cheer for this guy; unless you're a major ***** of course.

Maybe not too 5, but top 10. Funny, this guy was beloved two, three years ago. He had some growing pains and now some folks blast him,

Coach Harley, as well as Huska loves him. I trust him more than anonymous internet posters, claiming to be experts.

He only scored one empty netter but I get your point. I don't see him as more than a bottom six forward in the future.
Right, I think it was an assist or 2 on empty netters as well. My bad. I just don't see him as more than a 4th liner.

After watching him play, I think there is zero chance he becomes Lucic, absolutely none. I'd love to be wrong but I just haven't seen anything other than a very small handful of games that would make anyone think that.
