I like this team *this year* enough that we have the talent and plan to break through. FWIW I still think NJD beats the Rangers in 7 this year. Regardless if NJD makes the playoffs or not.
Under the last coaching staff, I'd agree. Couldn't stand the way we played, the poor decision making or lack of adjustments all together mid-game. The whole team underperformed last season.

By contrast, with mostly the same roster save some role guys, the coaching staff figured out what makes each player tick, they focused on some glaring weaknesses such as face offs, which improve possession, simplified the systems, more structured tho last night wasn't a great example. I take this Rangers over the Devs in a 7 game series.

Last spring I wanted no part of the Devs and they showed why. But this season its a different story. I'm anxious to see how this coaching staff handles the playoffs. I bet the structure will be very ridged. I don't believe there will be many firewagon hockey moments. Rangers have been one of the stingiest defensive teams in the league so far. 5v5 they could stand to score more but I've always been of the belief that 5v5 is more random than anything because there's two full strength teams the chances are reduced and a lot of the time it's waiting on a mistake to take advantage of. I also think our 5v5 production can/will improve if we address the 3rd line. With Chytil and Kakko out that's a big hit to our 5v5 depth. Have to believe that gets addressed either by both, or one coming back into the lineup and/or a trade/promotion to add a player with more offensive output than Bonino/Brodzinski/Vesey. Cyulle is perfect there. But we need more out of the other 2 spots.

Trouba was pretty terrible tonight.. overall thought we were the better team.. on to the next one but I do have some concerns that 5/6 bottom 6 players are 4th liners at best. Have some fears out lack of a viable 3rd line will catch up to us eventually
The injuries will do that.

Say what you want about Kakko and chytil, but them being gone has made us very top heavy

This is like saying If buffalo makes the playoffs they could beat the rangers in 7 as well…

I’m not saying it couldn’t happen but the rangers are currently one of the best teams in hockey. In a 7 game series I’d take my money on the rangers

Laf was garbage
I was yelling at him to get off the ice.
Probably worst game I’ve seen him play despite the one point.
He was slow and losing puck battles the whole night. He was garbage
Do you watch the games with your eyes closed?

Dude came into the league as a speed demon that could score off the rush and transformed his game into one of the best net front players in NHL history. No hockey IQ?
I mean tipping pucks and hockey IQ do not go hand in hand

I knew a bunch of people who went to college with him. They described him as the dumbest smart person they’d ever seen

FWIW I’d also agree his hockey sense can be lacking at times. He’s basically become a PP specialist like pavelski which is fine

Honestly a bit surprised by that assessment. He could have scored 4 yesterday in addition to multiple setups he made for others. His stats were good too. Far from garbage IMHO.

Exactly...And in Lavi's press conference he just said he thought that line (with Laf) was "fantastic!" last night.

I will say its nice to lose to an actual good team for once.

Just frustrating because we could have won it, it wasnt a complete no-show like some of our losses, just too sloppy and bad finishing
