I understand why people will vote for Hasek but I gonna vote for my boi Price
The past 15 years were all his, he was/is the player of an entire Habs era

Plus he's an incredible human being

Hasek is a good answer too lol

I've watched a lot of hockey I don't know how many goalies did as much with as little as Price had. Hasek is the best at that Price is #2 so me that's the mark of an all time goalie.

I wouldn’t put him 2nd all time (or even top 3) but Price certainly did single handedly carry the Habs for a long time.

Hasek was so entertaining though. Just an incredible goalie to watch. The way the challenged shooters and dared them to shoot somewhere only to rob them just oozed confidence.

Hasek was a human highlight real and a character to boot. I watched games just to watch him incredible entertainment value. Never have I watched a game just because of the goalie before or since.

I think these are the two greatest goalies of all time but even as a Habs fan Hasek was my favourite player as a kid so I had to go for him.
As a Habs fan it's shocking you believe this. Price could carry Dryden's equipment maybe...... I won't name the others....He's probably not even top 3 on the Hab list of crease villains.

Since the question is who do I like, Price is the obvious answer. Price is a terrific human while Hasek was and is a jerk.
The question is also which player you like more. As long as Hasek didn't kill puppies as a hobby I'm picking him.

Hašek is a jerk but that goes both ways, on occasion he's also been outspoken about the right things.

"Price certainly did single handedly carry the Habs for a long time."

Is something that always gets mentioned, but isn't really true - not the "long time" part anyway. In Price's first six years, which represents 310 games played for him or 43% of his entire career games played, he accumulated 145 wins with a .915 SV% and a 2.56 Gaa - How did his backups do? four backs combined to play 170 games over those six years and accumulated 86 wins with a .918 Sv% and a 2.55 Gaa. In those first six years, no one would describe what price was doing as carrying a team - he actually lost the starting gig twice in those six years. Lets fast forward to the last 5 years - you must admit, both Price and the Habs have been a dumpster fire over the last number of years... Price has put up below average numbers overall - only 200 games played with a .908 Sv%, the team has been terrible, but Allen and Niemi combined have played 100 games over the last 5 and have a .907 SV% - the rest of the collection of reclamation projects and garbage heap finds have been much worse, but that is to be expected from a collection of goalies who otherwise would not be in the NHL for the most part if not for injuries to both the Habs primary and backup goalie.

Without a doubt, there is a four year timeframe where the Carey Price was the Habs and any success they had was 100% because of him - you can't say that for the first 6 years for certain, his best year was a 5th place Vezina finish surrounded by up and down years, his backup finish 10th in Vezina voting one of those years. Over the last 5 he has been as much as a tire fire as the rest of the team - where would the Habs be without him over the last 5, probably not much different.

Contrast this with Hasek's 9 years in Buffalo - 6 Vezina wins and a Hart nomination 5 times... Price is not really in the same conversation.

I think this is the epitome of why stats don't mean as much as people think lol, not a single fan/expert who has watched him play from A-Z would agree with you.

- The backups played way less often, and against worse teams. Using save percentage as a barometer here ignores that basic fact. Having a .01 GAA and .03 SV% differential considering those factors means nothing.
Double their games and increase the competition of those four goalies, then see what happens. It's not rocket surgery here.

Saying that he 'lost the starting gig' dismisses that Halak was playing out of his mind and we basically had two amazing goalies for a short period.

I will agree that injuries have slowed him down these past couple of years, but he also achieved FAR more playoff success than Dom ever did with Buffallo, and there rosters weren't too far apart it skill level up front.

Context is important, Haseks regular seasons in Buffallo are unmatched by any other goalie, but their careers aren't as black and white as most make them out to be.

We all saw what happened when they played for good teams.

That's not really true regarding the opponents, and playing less is not of advantage unless the other guy is being overplayed which wasn't the case with Price.

He was averaging almost 60 GP during those seasons, and yes it is really true about his opponents. Price was not only consistently put in against the heavy hitters, but also divisional rivals from the get-go.

I'm not arguing Price > Hasek, just the dismissal of how much Price truly contributed to the Habs orginization.

Divisional rivals mostly yes, but against top teams backups played plenty. The Habs weren't very good and those weren't the games they were hoping to win.
