6 teams are now confirmed for the roto league! 5 remaining spots are reserved for managers from the H2H and 1 spot is open for someone new to join.

Still 2 spots open for the H2H league.

We can already discuss potential dates for the head to head league if we like, since it's close to full.

A weekend would work best due to time difference. A weekday evening with the time difference probably won't work. We'll also have to remember that the 13th to around the 26th won't work for Lord J T Shark.

March 4 and 6 would be the best date for me as far as availability. The 5th and 12th would work best in the afternoon.

i'm gonna opt out of the roto league, feel free to open my spot up

For the H2H league, I had suggested to our commish that we have it H2H Points (ie. HR=4pts, single=1 point, W=3 points, Save=2 points, BB=0.5pts...etc), rather than the normal H2H format that uses each stat category as an individual point. This will maintain the H2H excitement week to week, but will eliminate rewarding teams for some of the more obscure stats over and above the more common stats. Thoughts?

example of default points in a H2H points league

We could obviously add a bunch more stats. Expanding hits to singles = 1, doubles = 2, triples = 3. -1 points for a SO, -1 for a caught stealing, awarding/deducting points for saves/blown saves, holds, hit batters, wild pitches, sac flys, GIDPs...its really endless with baseball! And yahoo has a ton of stats that they track, all with the ability to custom set their value

For how many different stats there are (many of which are important), I think points would be best. I went ahead and switched it over for now. If anyone has suggestions on the point system, make sure to let me know.

Also, haven't got any new mangers on yet. I would like to get this finalized, so if it doesn't reach 12 by the end of the week, I'm capping it off at 10.

couple suggestions:
Batters
Intentional walks, Hit by pitch, sac fly should maybe be worth something, say +1?

Pitchers
BB should be punitive somehow, say -0.5?
And +2 for a SO might get overly award SO pitchers as opposed to groundball or flyball pitchers? Maybe reduce to +1?

Otherwise I think these are excellent. Good work!

I have all walks at +1. I intend to have all on base stats at at least 1. On that note, thanks for suggesting hit by pitch and sac fly. I will be adding those ones right away. Pitcher walks should be added too; thanks for pointing that one out too!

EDIT: You know, I could also do away with all of the hit and walk batting stats, and just use the "total bases" stat instead. I'm assuming that means 1 point per base?

So total bases is just on hits. So I will have to add walks, hit by pitch, and steals separately. Still more convenient to have total bases than all of the different separate hitting stats.

Whatever you prefer, not a big difference either way.
But really yahoo does all the calculations and presents it nicely, real-time. Once the points system is determined, it shouldn't be an inconvenience to anyone :)

Nah, they're pretty well the same. Just less tedious to add one stat column :).

Not getting anymore invites. Registration for the head to head league is over. We have 10 teams. Thoughts on draft time? I would like to hold it before Shark's trip on March 13. Preferably a weekend. Some days may work in the evening, but others might work better in the afternoon.

is it live draft for both leagues now ?
as for time, as long as the game isnt on i can attend the draft

Yeah, both leagues are live draft.

Also, is that just for home games, or away games too? Because I was thinking March 4 at 7 MT for draft time, but that overlaps a game in Columbus.

I started up the roto league. I am reserving spots for the first ten mangers in the original league plus a spot for PKSpecialist and OilerFan4Life. I will also run a waiting list for anyone else who is interested. Any of the H2H managers who opt out will have their spot opened up for another manager.

Reserved:

OilerPensfan97 (confirmed)
Cerebral
The Head Crushers (confirmed)
Lord J T Shark (confirmed)
Kevotron (confirmed)
Yeah15
McOilers4Cup (confirmed)
Roof Daddy
0ilerman (out)
McJ4M13 (confirmed)
PKSpecialist
OilerFan4Life

Open spots:

[open]

Waiting List:

Confirmed.

A suggestion: Let's do a 5x5 roto but use quality starts instead of wins. Wins are the worst thing in baseball.

Smart move.

Wins are seriously the worst metric ever. I mean, Chris Sale has averaged 12 wins a year the last 3 years and is easily the 2nd best starter in the game.

He's been good, but there's no easily best anything in baseball. So many variables, so many stats. He's in the top 5 conversation. Along with Kersh, Arrieta, Bum, Price...and surely a few more obvious ones
