He should sign for what he would've signed for 3 years ago...one can wish.

Just hope he leaves enough wiggle room to improve the team.

Progress?
So it's a done deal then? Just kidding.
Progress can be anything even just answering the phone call or accidently sending a text to the wrong person.

They waited the whole summer to see what the team would look like.
So, capped out, still no defence depth, still relying on Demko's great play, all world stats in shooting and GA.
Yep, 12 weeks to decide the next 9 years.

Don't think so.
But I have been posting for two years so I might as well keep to the line, he signs for 2 years, 3 max at max money which back then was over 10.5 mil, now maybe12+ mil if the Nux want to show hi how much they want him. But that would be a mistake if they think he is in it JUST for the money. He has stated too many times he wants to play for a cup. That means improving a playoff team, not just making the playoffs, being half way in the league, half the league make the playoffs.

Dhali does bring up items for click bait sometimes, not an untruth but sensationalizing minor comments.

Canguker
They are going to massively overpay based on 15 games, the team will regress to the mean and people will lose their minds like what happened with JT Miller
So what would be an AAV that would indicate they're overpaying, in your opinion?

Also, JT Miller has been absolutely fantastic for the Canucks.

Should be no rush. He's not a UFA. More security for him than anything if he wants it done sooner.

It's going to be an 8 figure AAV. No doubt on that. Just a matter of what that second number looks like. They have Myers, Beauv, coming off the books. They will continue to try to move Garland, but with the rebound season Boeser is having he may end up being move if they need the cap room and can't move Garland. Who knows....

Ya he is back next year no matter what.
There should no doubt or worry about that.
The worry part comes with the term, if it is the minimum then the gun is to the heads of management or the trade auction should start right from the beginning of the TDL the 1rst season if they know he is moving on.
Unless there are some big changes on defence and depth, BIG changes and at least 3 trades or big upgrades for playoff type players (big).

Rutherford was known for not waiting to make deals, Allvin seems to be all over the place but sometimes waiting could cost more in the future if the moves will take another year to see if they worked out.

If they made a trade for Zadorov, Tanev or whomever NOW and it didn't work out they would still have the TDL to correct that mistake if that's what happens. As an example, let's say they traded for Zadorov now and Tocchet keeps benching him or pissing him off and he doesn't want to sign here, then at the TDL he is on the block and might even get more than what was traded.

Going to start with 12
That's not unreasonable given the contract covers age 25 to 33 when its done.
Pastrnak is at $11.25 mill aav from age 27 to 35. I'd bet that ages 25, 26 for Petey are better offensively than Pasta at 33, 34, thus a higher AAV does seem logical.
