I really hope we haven't seen Elias' last game in a Devils jersey without knowing it.

That's what happened with Stevens. I saw the Devils play the Islanders at Nassau over Christmas that year and the next week was Scotty's last game. So disappointing.

It just proves that there are very few people who leave the game on their own terms. The ones that do are very lucky.

Why should I, who spends a bit of time here, spend 5 minutes scanning topic threads to look for the topic I want to post in every time I log in so you, who comes in once in a blue moon, can put up their once a month post.

Maybe we like each other and want to discuss other things than Devils.

Sorry the board doesn't cater to your casualness.
Be the change you want to be. I see the above comment all the time denouncing when any type of news gets its own thread, so I speak up. Just because I don't have a 4+ digit post count doesn't make my opinion count less. I actually read this board every day. Posts like this one are the reason I don't feel welcome in contributing as often.

This board is the #1 Devils-related board on the internet and sometimes I wish it would realize that. Would be nice to discuss something like the Rangers trading for Nash in a Devils board with Devils fans. Instead, it gets a few posts in a megathread and then gets forgotten. I'm glad you guys like each other but the mass of off-topic threads seem to overtake hockey-related news quite often.

Anyways, to make this post a little more on-topic, I'm going to miss Elias and hope he comes back and gets a proper goodbye. I'm not sure if I want us to resign him next year unless its for really cheap and even then, it's probably a good idea to give the roster spot to a kid. Still, it would hurt to see him play a year in a place like Detroit.

Not to take this thread too off topic, but if the off-topic threads bother you so much, you can customize your experience by ignoring the threads. All you have to do is click on "thread tools" at the top of each thread you wish to ignore, and scroll down to "ignore thread." Then you don't have to worry about the off-topic threads and can just key in on the hockey ones that appeal to you. Just a friendly suggestion that I hope makes your time here more enjoyable. :)

Patty won't let it end like this. If he can't go anymore this season(looks like he won't), he'll probably decide to go for one more season(next season) and then call it a career.

Can't imagine he'd want to just vanish into the sunset due to injury in such a low-key manner. Not that he'd want an entire parade being thrown in his honor but I think he'd want to finish an entire season first. lol.

Most great players don't get a storybook ending - Marty and Stevens didn't. Some things can't be helped.

Patty deserves at least 1 more home game so the fans can shower him with praise and chants.

Vs TML last game with Lou in the building.

Oh I do think he's playing that game unless he can't walk. If anything I think he'd try to play that whole week with the three home games in five days at the end of the season.

Those games could still be important so even more reason he might try and force his way back.

If this helps him, it could be a key return too (I want to hope this because I want to see just a little more of good old Patty).

He didn't look very good when he was in the lineup this season, he also went scoreless for the last 7 or 8 games, after having almost a PPG in his first half of games played.

But he probably never really played healthy at all this season. I would bet that he didn't.

He obviously wasn't. He wasn't able to rehab this knee issue before he started playing. Why he opted for surgery now.

I hope we get a few games from him so we can make a solid assessment if he has anything left because I don't want him playing somewhere else. I feel we need to do everything we can to make sure he retires a Devil.

I have been skeptical all along that Shero would re sign him next season, even this past offseason before he was injured.

I figured if he got 60+ points this season, maybe Shero re signs him.

I'm also thinking there's a decent chance he's not signed at all by anyone, but someone will probably bite since he's Patrik Elias. Pete will probably bite.
