On point 2...with the EHM Updater utility, you can assign starting strength numbers to every player in the database that are correlated to a weight/height formula with the push of a button.

I'm hoping I can get this into the first version of the EHM 1 DB Editor I'll be releasing later this month. So you won't have to apply it to the EHM 2007 DB and reimport.

Great, the preview shots look terrific by the way and I think it will go a long ways towards making data editing more accessible to those who want to tinker.

CHL squads will tend to not sign even the best CHL draft picks after they get drafted
I just looked at the top 10 picks in a few years worth of OHL/QMJHL Drafts and saw the same thing.....

Here’s looking at some numbers from my most recent EHM testing…..

OHL Priority Selection Draft
2022-23 – 3 out of 10 playing in OHL in first year
2023-24 – 4 out of 10 playing in OHL in first year
2024-25 – 2 out of 10 playing in OHL in first year
2025-26 – 3 out of 10 playing in OHL in first year
2026-27 – 1 out of 10 playing in OHL in first year

QMJHL Entry Draft
2022-23 – 2 out of 10 playing in QMJHL in first year
2023-24 – 2 out of 10 playing in QMJHL in first year
2024-25 – 4 out of 10 playing in QMJHL in first year
2025-26 – 3 out of 10 playing in QMJHL in first year
2026-27 – 3 out of 10 playing in QMJHL in first year

And some recent IRL data…..

OHL Priority Selection Draft
2015-16 – 10 out of 10 playing in OHL in first year
2014-15 – 10 out of 10 playing in OHL in first year
2013-14 – 10 out of 10 playing in OHL in first year

QMJHL Entry Draft
2015-16 – 10 out of 10 playing in QMJHL in first year
2014-15 – 8 out of 10 playing in QMJHL in first year (1 in USHL)
2013-14 – 9 out of 10 playing in QMJHL in first year

Yeah thats true, scoring all around seems low. Weird that almost every top draft pick will have 20-30 points in their league.
They need to introduce a scoring tilt for each league. So that they can adjust the overall scoring for one league without changing every league. Or for that matter, once editors comes around, you can adjust the scoring up if you for whatever reason want more scoring or wanna have a make a retro roster from the 80's or something.

Days are off again in my game.

Two day break for Christmas is on the 22nd and 23rd, not the 24th and 25th.

Also, the Olympic break doesn't last long enough. Games are starting again and yet a third of my team (including all of my star players) are still playing for their respective Olympic teams. Cost me three losses so far.

Also, is there a player editor out yet, and if so, how would I get this to work on a Mac (running PlayOnMac)?

Archi is working on a EHM 1 pre-game editor, see his post on the top of this page. There is an pre-game editor and utilities already you can use as well, you just have to import your database before you start a new game.

Can't help you with the Mac part.

Fun to watch young players turn into superstars...just got done with the 18-19 season.

- Patrik Laine crushed 50 goals and 84 points for the Jets, who shocked the world by drafting him first overall over Auston Matthews in 2016. He scored 34 goals and 63 points in 73 games his rookie season and won the Calder, had 25 goals and 42 points in only 42 games in an sophomore season cut short by injury and then destroyed the league this year.

- Matthews has been very good as the 'Canes franchise center...33 goals and 72 points in 78 games this year but still looking for his first "superstar" season.

- Two second rounder dmen from 2016 burst onto the seen as rookies this past year as Cam Dineen had 31 points in 70 games for the Jets and Luke Green parlayed his 33 points and smooth, reliable defensive play into a Calder Trophy.

- Green beat out two forwards for the 18-19 Calder...with speedy Finnish forward Kristian Vesalainen (6th overall in 2017) grabbing 25 goals and 54 points for Florida while Russian dynamo Kirill Kaprizov finally crossed the pond and added 22 goals and 58 points for the Wild.

- Sandwiched between Laine's 16-17 Calder season and Green's this past season was a very unheralded winner. In a very, very weak 17-18 rookie crop, Lightning power forward Adam Erne took the trophy with 19 goals, 35 points and a relentless physical style. He regressed to 10 goals this year and looks like a 2nd/3rd line tweener at best.

- The 19/20 season looks to be one where the cream of the 2017 draft look to break out. The only other 20 goal scorer from the bunch thus far aside from Vesalainen is 3rd overall pick Kailer Yamamoto, who tallied 22 goals and 54 points for the Devils in his sophomore effort. Nolan Patrick (1st overall to Toronto), Maxime Comtois (2nd overall to Carolina) and defenseman Timothy Liljegren (4th to Arizona) have all been NHL regulars since being drafted but have yet to breakout.

- 2018 1st overall, Russian sniper Andrei Svechnikov is coming over for the Kings after the 2020 season so his debut will have to wait. Of the 2018 crop, Oshawa Generals superstar defenseman Ryan Merkley (4th overall to Arizona - where he joins Chychrun, Liljegren and OEL on a ridiculous blueline) and Sudbury star David Levin (who inexplicably fell to 16th where San Jose happily scooped him up) look most poised to compete for Calder honors this season. The only 1st rounders from this draft to make NHL debuts right after being drafted were slick playmaker Isac Lundestrom (18th to the Islanders), feisty forward Lukas Wernblom (25th to the Sabres) and smooth-skating defender Ty Smith (29th to the Capitals).

- The 2019 draft was just completed and it is too early to tell who, if anybody, can make the grade right away but among the cream of the crop to watch for are Q superstars Xavier Parent (1st to perpetually dreadful Arizona), Xavier Simoneau (3rd to the Blue Jackets), Finnish prodigy Leevi Aaltonen (2nd to the Rangers) and WHL power forward Logan Barlage (4th to Montreal). Top American, standout defender Ben Brinkman, went 7th to St. Louis and will be attending the University of Minnesota starting this fall.

How about Slovak players?

Slovakia struck out in the 2016 draft.

2017 was good: Adam Ruzicka went in the 2nd round to Boston, was traded to Philadelphia and could make his NHL debut this year, Patrik Hrehorcak went in the 2nd round to Ottawa and is signed to come over after this season, Filip Krivosik went to the Predators in the 3rd round and is in the AHL, Marian Studenic went in the 4th to Detroit and is trying to make the Wings this year and Pavol Skalicky and Samuel Solensky were 7th round picks.

For 2018, Milos Roman was the highlight...he went 6th overall in the first round to the Flyers after a solid season with Chicoutimi in the QMJHL and should be in the NHL for his rookie season. Likewise, Martin Fehervary eventually went the QMJHL route - he was picked in the 2nd round by Chicago, was just signed and will try to make the team this year. Rounding out the draft were 3 game-generated (not real) 3rd rounders, a 4th rounder and a 7th rounder.

And 2019 was the best yet, with 11 game-generated Slovakians chosen.

As far as some other youngsters...Peter Cehlarik had three good seasons in Providence but could never crack Boston's lineup and has returned to play for Slovan in the KHL. Martin Reway surprised many by making the Habs for the 16-17 season; in 17-18 he had his best year with 18 goals and 44 points but for this season remains an unsigned RFA. Erik Cernak has been an AHL veteran but thus far unable to crack the Kings line-up.

I don't know where to post this since everyone in here already has it but maybe you guys can spread the word to your team boards.

Eastside Hockey Manager is on sale on Steam as part of the Lunar New Year sale. It's 50% off ($10.99 CDN).

The sale is until next Friday.

Hopefully this can attract more people to buy it.

Loving these posts. So awesome.

I'll give you some goalie goodness then! So, like I mentioned, this is the off-season of 2019. Here are some major goalie developments over the past 4 years:

- Matt Murray is firmly entrenched as the Flames starting goalie after getting dealt there by the Pens after the 16-17 season. His last two seasons he has 72 wins and a SV% of around 0.918. Mason McDonald is backing him up. Ortio went home to Finland and while Jon Gillies looks primed to breakout as a star starter for the Islanders, where the he was dealt to last season and started 31 games as backup.

- With Bishop still firmly entrenched in Tampa, the Bolts dealt Vasilevsky to Ottawa in 2018...where he was immediately installed as a starter and finished 3rd in Vezina voting, with a 30-18-5 record, 2.25 GAA and 0.919 SV%.

- The Stars have lost both their vets and could still sign a starter during free agency but right now it looks like recently signed 20 year-old first rounder (29th in 2017) Jake Oettinger could be given a shot...he finished his career at BU with 128 wins in three seasons and had a 2.04 GAA and 0.923 SV% in his final season as a junior.

- Rinne is out as an UFA in Nashville and it looks like Juuse Saros, who has been backing him up, is the next inline to be a Predators goalie star.

- Youngster Luke Opilka is coming along nicely - in San Jose, where he had a nice rookie year as a backup to Jaro Halak.

- Connor Hellebuyck has been starting for the Jets for almost 4 seasons now and has already compiled 104 NHL wins along with a career 0.914 SV%.

- Evan Fitzpatrick (1st round, 28th overall to Chicago in 2016) has been backing up Crawford for two seasons now and after one more year with Crawford, looks set to be the future starter in the Windy City.

- Petr Mrazek is simply elite but now Detroit has added their future as well; they picked up Mikhail Berdin 21st overall in 2016 and he backed up Mrazek last year. He was probably rushed as his 3.16 GAA and 0.897 SV% would indicate but the future is still bright.

- Florida heads into the 2019-20 season with both Carey Price and 40 year-old Roberto Luongo! Price was acquired in a blockbuster trade with Montreal last off-season and had 38 wins and a 0.925 SV% in his first year in South Beach.

- Speaking of Montreal...it is an absolute mess right now as Zach Fucale and Jordan Binnington combined to go 12-40-4 last year...some serious upgrades are needed.

- The Devils are slowly breaking in Mackenzie Blackwood as Cory Schneider's understudy.

- Meanwhile, Philly got surprisingly good results from Anders Nilsson last year, while Anthony Stolarz started 26 games with mixed results. The Flyers aren't really confident he can be their future yet.

- Martin Jones has taken over the crease in Toronto; the real excitement is over recently signed 3rd round pick from 2017, Michael DiPietro, who has nothing left to prove in the OHL.

- Malcolm Subban continues to struggle for starts and development behind Rask in Boston. Buffalo's crease continues to be a mess as Lehner, Ullmark and Cal Petersen battle.

- John Gibson, still only 26, is the prize of free agency as the Ducks stupidly let him go...he went 26-11-8 last year with a 2.20 GAA and 0.925 SV%. He's never had more than 47 starts splitting time with Andersen in Anaheim but somebody is going to land a Vezina-caliber talent this summer.

Of some highly touted prospects not yet mentioned:

2015 Draft
- 2015 1st rounder Ilya Samsonov continues to develop in the AHL, biding his time behind Vezina-winner Braden Holtby.
- Likewise, the Flyers' Felix Sandstrom is coming along nicely in the AHL and could see some NHL time this year with their uncertain goalie situation.

2016 Draft
- Florida took their Finnish obsession a little too far in the 2016 draft, reaching for overager Veini Vehvilainen with the 17th overall pick...good goalie and has appeared in 58 games for Florida over the past 3 seasons but was never the answer and looks set to return to Finland as an RFA this off-season.
- Carter Hart fell to 29th overall in that 2016 draft to Arizona and has been progressing well, even getting a cup of tea in the desert last year.
- Florida made up for (or made their 17th pick even more head-scratching) by picking up Zachary Sawchenko in the 2nd round in 2016...unlike Vehvilainen, he's taking time to develop but looks like he could be worth the wait.
- Filip Gustavsson went in the 3rd round to Vancouver, where he's been developing in the AHL. Evan Sarthou and Vladislav Sukhachyev were also 3rd rounders in '16.

2017 Draft:
- Stuart Skinner went 22nd overall to Ottawa and spent the year in the AHL...Ian Scott went in the 2nd round to Toronto...Olle Eriksson-Ek, Dereck Baribeau and Quinnipiac standout Keith Petruzzelli round out the rest of the top goalie picks.

2018 Draft:
- Top goalie pick was Czech standout Jakub Skarek, 28th overall to the Flames...the next goalies didn't go until round 4.

2019 Draft:
- Boston Bilous is the only real player goalie in my database at this point...he went 15th overall to the goalie-hungry Flames and will be a freshman at Denver this fall.

Wow. Really, really impressive. Don't have to answer this right away if you don't want to, how's Varly and Picks doing in Colorado?

Varly being Varly...he's kind of alternating great and good years. Had a couple years in a row with injury issues though. It was actually Berra who still stepped in as a starter though during those periods and Sakic rewarded him with $3.875 thru 2021. Pickard also played but despite a starter's profile and attributes, could never dislodge Berra and he has left as a free agent this summer. 2016 4th rounder Niilo Halonen has usurped Spencer Martin as the man in San Antonio for now.

Haha, I thought I was the only one who did this. I love going back and seeing just how many NHLers I ended up producing too, even if they break out on other teams.

Just found a really minor glitch. I had to call up Malcolm Subban due to an injury to Rask, and I've been rolling with him as the starter for the past few games. Subban was also named to the AHL All-Star team and managed to play one period in that while also starting for me against Philadelphia. Quite a busy night.

If, and this is a big if, I can figure out how to cross-compile my Editor then I'll see if I can release a completely unsupported Mac version. There are no promises, though. It's not only dependant upon me figuring out how to cross-compile, but also upon the code within the Editor not having any Windows-specific dependencies (I'm not 100% sure about this). If not, you could try running the Editor via PlayOnMac.

A first beta of my Editor should be released before the end of this month.

Thanks for that - Hope it works, but no big deal if it doesn't.

I'll see if the current one that's one (I believe riz made it?) will work on PlayOnMac. Not too sure how to go about that, though, besides downloading a browser and then downloading the editor.
