1) Fire coaching staff. If you can’t make the playoffs with the best scorer in the game it’s time to move over. Hire Dave Tippet
2)draft the best d-man you can at 9 or trade up a few spots if you can to get Evan Bouchard as he is a RD and we really need that.
3) sign John Carlson 7 years 60 million. Failing that go to step 4
4) Trade Oscar Klefbom, 2019-1st(unprotected)RNH, and 2020 2nd which becomes a 1st(unprotected) if Karlsson signs for Karlsson and Bobby Ryan. Sign Karlsson 8 years 88 million.
5) let pakarainen, Auvitu, Cammellarri go UFA
6) sign Strome to a 1 year show me at 3 million
7) sign Caggiula, Slepyshev to one tear deals under 1 million
8) send Lucic to a power skating and fitness guru to cut weight and add speed.

So Klefbom, Nugent-Hopkins and two 1sts in a deal where they also take Bobby Ryan?

That's gonna be a big no thank you.

It doesn't work in terms of assets and how in the world are the Oilers going to be anything but a lottery team with McDavid, Draisaitl, Karlsson, Ryan, Lucic and Russell making a combined 49.25 million dollars.

Good luck fielding a team even if the cap goes to 80 million with 6 players taking up 50 million of that cap.

I’m not entirely sure how you plan to have McDavid, Draisaitl, Karlsson, Lucic, Carlson; and Ryan all making massive money contracts on this team (seriously that’s like all our cap space), especially since Lucic and Ryan are useless and bad at hockey.

This doesn't seem very well thought out.. if everything you said pans out, we would have Larsson on our botton pairing? Russel as our 7th defenceman making 4m? Trade Nuge and don't replace him whatsoever. Ryan is injury prone and sucks.

Yep, that'll definitely guarantee EDM misses the playoffs for the next five years.
