We certainly weren't outplayed last night. Outside of a few shifts in the second and the obvious 4 penalties called in the first 23 minutes we controlled much of the play. The rags definitely got some lucky bounces, even the Goodrow goal I thought was pretty fortunate, the way it hung up there, even though it was a glorious scoring opportunity. They should be able to bring heat all night in game 7 with the line matchup advantage. I just dont want to see ANY more passing up shots, how many times have we had odd man rushes this series and not even got a shot off? 4,5?

Yeah even with all the power plays which were honestly all bunched together the team still got to start the third on a power play and our top guns did squat.

Jitters is definitely my concern too. You can’t deny it wasn’t a factor in games 1&2. Where ruff palat haula have to earn their keep
Those 2 games looked a lot like game 5 though.

Oddly though, in game 1, penalty calls against the Rag's actually threw us off our game , where last night it was calls against us that through us off our game.

We'll see. Like I said, I'm a little scarred because I was riding that for Pittsburgh and Carolina last year too. Still stunned they won both of those.
I'm not stunned they won either, but I did pick Carolina to win that series before it started. I didn't pick Pittsburgh to beat them before the series started though.

After Raanta had an accident in his depends 10 minutes into game 6 at MSG, I figured the Rangers were probably winning that series. And of course he had yet another accident early in game 7 and then was taken to the hospital before that game had even ended.

Serving up Raanta in a playoff series in 2022 (and 2023) is pretty much a joke. Guy is a career backup/1b. He finally got a starting job in Arizona, until he got injured for a year and never got the job back because a better goalie (Kuemper) had taken it in his absence.

That's the thing with Raanta. He either was never good enough to be a starter or he got hurt and lost the job once he got a starting job. Injuries are another story of his career.

I'm a little more confident with Schmid in there than Raanta or god forbid Louis f***in Domingue or Jarry with a walking boot. And I'm pretty sure he had the boot on before and after that game 7 he played, where he was rushed in out of necessity because of Domingue.

Jitters shouldn’t be a concern. Being down 0-2 on the road is probably the closest thing to a “do-or-die” game and the team came through.
Yeah and they looked shaky for 2/3 of that game still and only won it in OT. To me it looks like they didn’t truly settle down until that win.

Now they are sort of back to a situation they’ve never been in. One game to decide it. With massive pressure on our best players who haven’t even delivered a single goal in this series yet (I’m pretty sure we aren’t coming away with the win if Nico, Bratt, or Timo don’t finally find the back of the net).

They’ve been proving people wrong all year, so I’m not at all saying I don’t believe they can do it. But by the same token, they’ve also shown in this series that they can get rattled by the moment.

They played good in games 3 and 4 to negate a 3-0/3-1 deficit and bring the series at 2-2 on the road. This was a very high pressure situation. If this isn’t good enough evidence for you that they can play under pressure, that’s totally fine, but nothing will.

And what about the Rangers? They can’t get rattled? Win 2 on the road and lose 3 straight. That’s getting rattled in my books. The Devils have showed more fight in this series and I’m confident they’ll come out strong tomorrow.

I think it’s 50/50. There are moments they’ve shown poise, and moments they haven’t.

You’re clearly taking the more optimistic outlook here, but objectively I don’t think it’s as clear as you’re making it.

Your top players have to be your top players, and that includes Hughes. Step up. At home, game 7. No excuses.

That said, we also have to keep perspective here. These guys are learning to win and I have no doubt they’ll take this experience moving forward. Love where this team is headed.

They’ve definitely been able to handle adversity and pressure this series. At a level I didn’t think was likely for this young, inexperienced team. I just think it’s odd to turn on this now. If they came back from 0-2 on the road, they can win a Game 7.

The Rangers can also get rattled btw, as they’ve shown this series. This isn’t a one way street.

Agree on all of this. The team is headed in the right direction.

Rangers’ star guys stepped up yesterday, only right that ours do the same tomorrow.

Are we confusing "Devils look shakey" with "Rag's are trying to win as well"?

Saying we looked shaky in Games 3 & 4 is a huge stretch and takes a lot of credit from what the Devils did. The fact this young group came back from 0-2 on the road isn’t nothing and I see it brushed off a lot.

they haven't played in an elimination game yet. games 3 and 4 were not elimination games, "basically" or otherwise.

i'm nervous but confident because i think we're the better team, but saying we won games 3 and 4 are not the same as a game 7 and i expect some level of nerves from players who haven't done that before.

If we don’t get horseshit penalty calls and the call obvious penalties against the Rangers , we will win game 7 . The 4 penalties in a row destroyed all our momentum and kept our best players off the ice for a lot of the first part of the game. Hard to get going when they are all sitting on the bench and cold.

The officiating was garbage once again. Blatant high sticking on Tatar not called in the first . We had like 80% possession ( maybe somewhat exaggerated lol) but we got 4 penalties in a row with none against the Rangers trying to defend our onslaught ? BULLSHIT .

If the game was called as it should have been we would have steamrolled them in game 6. Only way Rangers can win is if they get multiple PP’s and we get none.
Something tells me that the Devils are going to be the ones who "benefit" from Bullshit Refereeing this time around in Game 7.

It won't be called as fairly as I think.

Refs are making it all about THEM once again.

I think Rag's success thus far is Igor, and performance on special teams.

I think PP goals for and against, don't even tell the whole story. I thought the early PP's in game 1 took us off our game. Last night all the PK's threw us off our rhythm. The change in game flow post penalties, either way, have been heavily in Rag's favor.

I was just thinking about this yesterday and even the day or two before. It keeps crossing my mind.

On yesterday's date in 2012, we played game 1 against the Flyers in the second round and we lost.

On tomorrow's date in 2012, we played game 2 of that series and won, though it looked for a while like we might not win that game and once we did, we didn't look back much that series, save for needing OT in game 3.

Now, the date of that game 7 against Florida was April 26th, but the game ended after midnight, so it was technically April 27th when we won that game. The date of game 5 of this current series was April 27th and we won.

Idk why people are acting like this is a new thing.

Game 7s are always pushed to primetime when possible on any network

Those were Conference Finals if I remember correctly. Did Rangers-Penguins start at 8 last year? I know Devils-Hurricanes wasn't an 8 PM start in 2009. I don't remember this being a first round thing, at least not in the NHL. This is more like an NBA schedule.

Just looked it up, Devils-Canes was at 7:30 in 2009. Rangers-Capitals in DC the same night was 7 PM. I'm pretty sure Devils-Panthers wasn't an 8 PM start in 2012 either (actually it was 8:30 though lolz).
