Dobson is average on the defensive side of the puck. Can’t believe he’s been mentioned in the Norris conversation.
Quick Lou, trade him to Colorado for two 2nds before the rest of the league find out.

Islanders forced Carolina to play how they wanted to for a good portion of the game. When Freddy robbed Dobson and Carolina went up 2-1 shortly after the game slipped away from them
Carolina is probably fine to play like this. They are fine with grinding it up 60 minutes and believe that their talent will win it. Worked in the game 1.

This isn't even close to Carolina's best game either today and they still won. Opportunity waisted for the Islanders and probably a good chance the Hurricanes go up 2-0 on home ice with a much better effort next game

Nah you're in trouble if you go down 0-2. The probability of coming back is historically not good.
If you are on home ice then sure, but if you win the next two at home its an even series again and it turns into a best of 3. If you are the lower seed you gotta steal a game, but it just needs to be one. Now if you go down 0-2 on home ice its usually over unless you get into one of those odd series like Nashville had a couple of years ago where the home team lost every game.

I dunno. Lately home ice hasn't seemed to count for much in hockey at least

Anderson >>>>>> Varlomov

Canes played one period of Canes hockey and still won by 2...

This series will be over quickly

The penalties were 3-2, with the Islanders getting called for a DOGPOG and two supposed "dives". Are Islanders fans suggesting the Islanders just shouldn't have been called for anything that entire game?
It was made up for by the fact the missed two penalties agaist Aho an egregious hook and an outright mugging of a roughing

Thought we looked dead in the water in the second. Getting outplayed and out-hustled. But nice adjustments by RBA for the 3rd.

Helluva game Mr. Andersen! Keep it up.

To me it looks like their skates got caught up which is why Skjei went down the way he did. It's also Brady Skjei so I give him the benefit of the doubt. Could it have been called a trip instead? Maybe.

A tip of the cap to you! They showed it from a back angle at the first intermission and Lee's knee took out Skjei's right leg (unintentionally) right before he hooked him with his arm up high. That's why Skjei went down so easily, he was on one leg at the time. Probably 20 people on here screaming about a dive and you were the only one who interpreted the play correctly. If I didn't know better I'd think maybe you even reffed at one time, lol.

[Slavin did embellish on the slash, but making that slash nowhere near the play to even allow the ref a chance to make that call was pretty stupid]
