Now that The Streak is over, it's time to rebuild
But seriously, this montage really makes you appreciate just how lucky we got with Larkin. Imagine him with talented teammates.
I'm very proud of the forward steps Larkin has taken this season. Last year was the bounce back from his sophomore slump, this year he has emerged as the legitimate leader on this team. I say they should just put the C on his chest already, the kid deserves it. He's a great leader, works very hard, great all round skills, top line offense, great two way game, tremendous speed and skating ability, clutch, and has a great attitude, not sure what more you can ask for.
They are waiting for Yzerman to give him the C.
It's a lock. Book it.We don't even know if Yzerman is coming back.
as TZE alluded to in the gdt, this goal does remind you of mcdavid
But McDavid is that good, I think he is the unquestioned best player in this league for the next decade. He is faster than Larkin, heck I think he is faster with the puck than anybody else is in the league without it even.

Hopefully he starts lighting the lamp again I want him to hit 30

I thought yesterday was maybe Larkin's best game ever. He looked totally dominant out there. McDavid is the best player in the world and comparing anyone to him is unfair, but on days like yesterday Larkin really does resemble him. He controlled the puck and play every time he stepped onto the ice. It was marvelous to watch. In last night's game vs. Calgary Kelley Hrudey made that same comparison, footnoting that Larkin is not as good as McDavid, but the way he played reminded him of CMD. I thought, "hey someone on the forum made that same comparison!"
I need to watch more Oilers games now.

his improvement in the faceoff circle has been awesome
whats he at now percentage wise?
Easily. If he hits 60 points while continuing to play defense, I'd be very surprised if it's less than $7M AAV, for at least 5 years. Does anybody have recent comparables handy?
He'll most likely get the full 8 years, but I don't want to see anything over 5. Once Z retires and our aging depth gets worse, I worry Larkin will regress due to over exposure. I'd feel much better about a really long term deal if we had more high level prospects, but we don't really have any.
