Gudas got hit again in the 3rd. They showed him doubled over on the bench. Shortly later they had a shot of the bench where you could see him sitting behind the bench talking to the trainer. He didn't play again

14-2-1 on the road is amazing. Above and beyond.

Oh yeah, this is sweet and impressive!

Also note that other than one more trip to Winnipeg/Minnesota the hard travel is OVER for the season.

So on the Western Canadian and the Cali trips they won 5 of 6 and got points in all of them. :amazed:

Really proud of these guys so far.

Don't forget they are away at Colorado, Arizona and Vegas mid February as well. But apart from that it's all East coast trips from now on

Boston needs to start playing road games.

Boston and the Caps are on another level right now. And when you think about the fact that the Bruins are winning without Bergeron and the Caps are winning without Backstrom that makes their records more impressive.

Things can change, but right now today, they (and the Blues) are the cream of the NHL.

You need to lower your standards.

Kuznetsov: 12g, 17a, +9 in 28 games played.
He has 12Gs and scored tonight. The 1st line has problems, but Kuzy is the least of my worries.

Points are a pretty poor way to evaluate how a player is doing on the ice. He gets crushed in possession and allows a ton of high danger chances during 5v5 play, just because he pots a PP goal doesnt mean that his terrible 5v5 play can be excused.

Points are a pretty poor way to evaluate how a player is doing on the ice.

I see this time and time again on HF Boards, and I think it's the biggest load of bs (not aimed at you personally).

Points are the perfect way to evaluate a player when that player is your 1C or 2C. Or if he's your primary goal scorer (Ovechkin). Or if he's your best passer (Backstrom, assists).

Points are NOT a great way to evaluate a player if he's on your first PK unit. Or if he's on a checking line. Or if he's Jay Beagle :) (faceoffs, right?)

Kuzy is currently 20th in the league in points per game. Just under 1/3rd of his points are on the PP, which means his even strength points ratio is higher than quite a few of the guys in front of him.
To say he's "terrible at 5v5 play" and you're "not really sure what to do about him at this point" is....well let's just say I'm glad you're not on the Caps coaching staff.

If you're all about puck possession and great Corsi and all those other advanced metrics go and watch the Isles play. You'll be in 7th heaven. Over there points don't matter at all!
