We've hyped up alot of 7th rounders over the years for various reasons. Matt DeBlow, Rushan Rafikov, Austin Carroll. Ironically we never really hyped up John Gilmour and look at him now.

As an aside, we have had some decent picks in rounds 7+ in our franchise history. John Gilmour is looking solid, Adam Cracknell had a couple hundred NHL games, David Moss, Ronald Petrovicky, Ladislav Kohn, German Titov, Jonas Hoglund, Theo Fleury, Stu Grimson, Gary Suter, Sergei Makarov, Hakan Loob

I remember folks being excited about Gilmour and Rafikov the most.
I don't recall Carroll or DeBlow getting any kind of fanfare here outside of the "He could maybe be a 4th liner."

Thing about Rafikov is that he probably is/was good enough to have had some kind of shot at an NHL job. That ship has almost certainly sailed now. Guy never wanted to come over.

Funny enough, he actually plays with everyone's favourite #4D: Nakladal, now.

Carroll and Deblow both had silly stupid fanboys after scrimmages at prospect camps... It was pretty dumb.

Same with Eetu as well.

Andersson won me over at a scrimmage, so maybe I was just smarter than the average bear :laugh:
I really don't remember much love for those two guys in general, I almost forgot we had them in our system all together.

I thought DeBlouw had upside as a bottom 6 center.

Remember the hype around Tim Harrison too? A guy that wasn't even in Central Registry's database a month prior when we drafted him.
