The petition signed by more than 280,000 people in Colombia calling for the last 16 game with England to be replayed has been dismissed by Mick McCarthy.

While England fans felt aggrieved with the behaviour of the Colombia players during the feisty game, those in South America felt that referee Mark Geiger cost them the game.

The petition argues that it was a ‘non-existent’ foul on Harry Kane that saw England awarded a penalty and that Carlos Bacca’s goal in extra-time should have stood.

They are correct, don't recall Law 12 ever indicating that piggy back riding an opponent within the penalty area or for that matter anywhere on the pitch is illegal.
