I don't think many of us disliked it, I just think we got sick of seeing Sid and Malkin in blue after a while. Particularly when they began to use that other blue winter classic jersey during the season and rather often as well. While many of us at the time were screaming for the OG retros that we have now (thank f***ing god)

As usual, I know I’m in the minority, but I think these jerseys would have been amazing if they eliminated at least two of the blue and white lines.

The blue designs are actually pretty sharp, IMO. I like powder blue so that doesn't hurt.

I guess I just associate them in my mind with those trash-on-ice outdoor games along with all the injuries sustained during them... including the infamous "Steckel'd" game.
