Did he get nervous about ice time after watching Myers play the Devils?

[Bear] is getting very close and the fact that he’s only going to cost you the cap space it takes to bring him has helped drive some of the interest on the 26-year-old defenseman. [It’s] to the point that he’s going to allow teams on Monday of next week to come to Kelowna if anyone wants to get a look at him on the ice and see him go through his paces after having offseason shoulder surgery. Remember, he was injured playing for Team Canada at the World Championship last year and he’s had a long recovery from that shoulder surgery. The Vancouver Canucks have interest in bringing him back and I think the Leafs have shown interest. The team to watch could be the Washington Capitals, they seem to be keenly interested. New Jersey and Pittsburgh as well but there’s certainly no shortage of interest in Bear who can be signed just for the money it costs to pay him.

Not understanding the fanfare. He's mediocre even when healthy and he'll be jumping into the middle of the season ice cold so it could take him a while just to get back to mediocrity.
I don’t think he’d have any attention if he was a left shot d-man

But I mean even Treleving said yesterday on TSN radio that the right shot market is in extremely limited supply right now for trades
So this is a free asset.

I mean if I were getting an offer with 2 years id probably sign with that team too, although knowing the Canucks this would be his opportunity t play with Hughes on the top pairing which could potentially net him more money, just a matter of if he is willing to roll the dice after such an extended time off the ice.

The part in the title "video of bear skating" made me kinda laugh
When I was in high school, there was a traveling show of skating bears from Russia. One of my friends was over and a news story came on about how they were releasing the bears into the wild. My friend said "That's so sad. Who's going to tie their skates?"

My dad was there and cracked up. Every couple of years he'll start randomly laughing and ask me if I remember that.

Good times.

Mediocre defensively, but a great puck mover. I think that’s why teams are lining up, the defensive game in the NHL is quickly moving to an “offense is a good defence” type league. And that’s why Bear will find a home and will provide value to whoever gets him.

He’s going to the highest bidder at this point in his career. 100k difference is a years salary in a good normal profession and will play a major roll .

Ugh. I want him back in Vancouver, otherwise my skate jersey is worthless 🙃
It won't take much to outbid the Canucks. They may not even be in a position to make an offer. Any offer.

Soucy is expected back in the new year. Assuming they then send William Karlsson to the AHL at that time, they'll then have Considering that Soucy is expected to return early in the new year the Canucks will then have a cap cushion (all from long term injury relief) of $441,250-not enough to replace a short-term injured player even at minimum NHL salary.

Unless the Canucks find a way to clear more cap space, the only way they could make any offer at all for Bear is to plan on going with 22 players or fewer on their roster.

The Bruins have to sign him and immediately put him into one of their "pooh bear" crested jerseys.

Really hope Vancouver can still work out a deal. Juulsen needs to be relegated to the AHL and be like the team's #10 depth option.

Though without Myers somehow leaving as well, there would be one of him or Bear sitting every night with everyone healthy

Hughes
Hronek
Cole
Soucy
Zadorov
Bears
Myers

Myers has been better on average this year but he is such a Jekyll and Hyde player.

Well that video is better than the one Puljujarvi's agent had of him shooting muffins into the middle of the net like he did before his surgery.

Apparently, because of his insurance being based on his previous salary (2.2M), Bear is likely taking a pay cut when he returns this year, so I guess it is a matter of how much of pay cut he is willing to absorb to play for your 'Vancouver Aquilinies'.

I always wondered about this issue. Strudwick use to talk all the time on local radio about having it, but never really got into the details of the cost. Not just the cost, but how long can you actually reasonably insure yourself for and such.

Really good on seeing a young guy in Bear getting that as I don't know that everyone does this.

Yeah pretty lacklustre player. I watched him with the Oilers. Looked very promising his first year and steadily got worse

Hope they can work it out. Certainly a finite timeline for NHLers to make money and would imagine that Bear doesn't want to miss out on much to stay where he wants to be.

I thought he looked pretty good last year he's certainly very good at supporting offense and moving pucks once turned up ice.

He does have some issues once he gets turned and has to defend off the cycle but he's a serious upgrade on Juulsen, Friedman and Myers the games he plays like he has half a brain. Just by reducing minutes for Hronek and Myers this would be a nice addition to say nothing of the inevitable injuries that happen
