That Bratt pack guy is really the closest random internet personality that I've fantasized about physically assaulting in a very long time.

Between all of his strike outs on the new Bratt contract and acting like he was actually in the know.

He doesn't even know Smith wasn't on waivers. Just like he didn't know shit about what was going on with Bratt or anything else on the inside.

Ryan Graves won't even be here anymore by the time the Devils are a powerhouse. f***in DOLT.

I’m now fantasizing about you (or anyone) physically assaulting him and I’m a very nice lady.
He’s a f***ing completely insufferable turd attention seeker on Twitter.

Is the logic that teams already claimed guys and decided on a roster so we could sneak Boqvist through waivers tomorrow?

It seems like the big wave of poachable guys got sent today.

I readily admit that I still have no idea what the team’s final cap solution will be and I refuse to try to figure it out. Cap stuff makes my brain cry.
Severson should have been moved

Team will probably be forced to pay a 2nd to move Bernier

Yes. You normally see a few guys on waivers tomorrow.

I don't think anyone that good got waived. We'll see a few claims, but this isn't like some years past where there were 5 or 6 claims.

I think it'll just be Bernier on LTIR, which sucks for numerous reasons, but I think Johnsson is off the cap one way or another by November 1 and they're banking space from then on.

Y’all get upset about anything

If this is about Brattpack, no, he sucks, and I am right to be upset at him.

I really try not to let anyone make me wish violence on them, especially people on the internet who I've never met in real life and never will meet. Especially when the only offense they commit is being a completely insufferable turd attention seeker on twitter, but his constant misses on the Bratt stuff and trolling people into thinking he had inside knowledge..... I was just over him very quickly.

There's no reason to move Severson, unless we're tanking this year. If we're out of it at the deadline then we move him then. He's still arguably the best defenseman on the team coming into this year.

I don't think we're going to pay anybody a 2nd to take Bernier.

Sure there is. There names are Simon Nemec and John Marino lol

Kid played four years professionally, after half a season in the A he could hang on the third pair in a sheltered role. And Marino is a top-4 dman who could handle the role hed play

Losing Graves for nothing is acceptable because he wouldnt garner a 1st and he is important at that 2LD spot. We have a second 2RD in Marino and a 2nd overall whos probably already good enough to hang, but letting him get used to the NA sheet first is also good. Losing a 1st+ in Damons value for a first round exit, even if making the playoffs is monumental for us, is just really poor value management. Were talking two 1st's worth of value between two dmen were losing.

We arent that set going forward to be able to afford that without absolutely damn good reason for it, and a playoff birth isnt that. Losing Graves value for nothing for a playoff birth is fair value, not on top of Severson as well (and Bernier if he comes back healthy and someones desperate)

Marino is a reason to trade Severson? Why? He already has a spot anyway?

Nemec shouldn't start in the NHL. Let's not do this.

I'm pretty sure this is the last year of both Graves and Severson here.

Wow we waived Geertsen today?

Also waived today by various other clubs: Will Butcher, Mikhail Maltsev, Wayne Simmonds, John Hayden.

Edit - I see I am a couple of pages late on this Ahaha. On the internet a few hours is old news buried in the commentary.
You gotta laugh at old, high mileage, poorly aging mid-30's guys like Nick Foligno and Wayne Simmonds, who were both given 2 year deals just last offseason and now both are waived today.

Simmonds deal was for considerably cheaper than Foligno's though.

Simmonds looked just about cooked when he played here 3 years ago. I was never betting on him to play 3 more NHL seasons after that and it looks like he more than likely won't, unless they are depleted and have to call him back up.

I believe I was told not to bring my "vendetta" against him onto this board (or something to that effect) by....someone here (I don't recall who it was, though).

I guess it's now okay to start bad-mouthing him again, right? :squint:

That doesnt address anything I said come on now lol

Losing two 1sts worth of value for a playoff appearance for a bottom-3 aged team that would be a low seed is blasphemous. I dont see how you can possibly support that notion and want the best future possible

Those picks would be absolutely crucial ELCs for us down the road and what teams in recent memory lost an entire second pairing to free agency??

Also I said let Nemec get half a season in the A to adjust, hes already a 3rd pairing level defenseman. He was a 2nd overall whos played pro since the age I was still scared to talk to girls

Why would Johnsson's contract be fully nulled in terms of NHL AAV on November 1st? Since hes a one-way doesnt his contract only offer minimum+325k relief?

I still think signing Severson may not be completely ruled out.

Neither Shero nor Fitzgerald have re-signed guys that were already on the team that were that old (late 20's or older) and about to hit their first UFA deal. At least nobody close to that caliber.

Fitz did just sign two guys that age range to UFA deals the last two summers in Hamilton and Palat, but we've yet to retain any of the free agents of consequence when they approach that age. I guess Tatar kind of qualifies, but his deal hardly had term. Same with Bernier and neither dollar amounts were as high as the two guys I mentioned earlier.

Someone will eventually be the first guy we retain at UFA age that's been here long term.

I don't think Graves is coming back at all though, probably next to no chance. And he really shouldn't. He was merely a stop gap and isn't gonna be worth his next deal for a cap team like us that's looking to compete. He was merely the defense version of Marcus Johansson.

I thought the issue was that you were quoting his tweets a lot while he was pretending to know about Bratt’s contract and people? moderators? didn’t want his tweets discussed here all the time.

So even though you were criticizing or complaining about him it was giving him a lot of bandwidth on the board. I might not be remembering it correctly…

We’re all just generally shitting on him after someone posted a tweet by him. He suckered a lot of people with his pretend insider info about Bratt’s extension. I don’t think he has to be discussed in the future.

That's (that statement in bold) was what was said THEN to me (like a mother wagging her finger at her son)...and guess what?

It's now "the future"(which is the present) and he's being discussed AGAIN.

So that "bandwidth" thing you mentioned? He's getting a lot of it...again.

The best bet is to not even acknowledge he exists like i've tried doing so but seeing others put up one of his damn tweets makes that impossible.

Not to mention that it's kind of hypocritical for many to browbeat me for getting on Bratty-Pack-of-Lies back then and then come back now and do the same thing themselves. :shakehead

Yes thats correct but I need to see that you understand the wealth of value were losing by letting both get to the offseason

Playoff position or not, unless were top-2 Metro, we should move Damon and bring Nemec up to the third pair at the deadline. Reason I say top-2 is because if we somehow are then maybe we can pass round one

I’m not particularly enthusiastic about signing a soon to be 29 year old Severson to an 8 year deal and term is how you keep the AAV down.

Any debate about TDL moves are way too hypothetical for me now though. Who knows where the team will be.

I agree with those saying we have to consider getting assets, we aren’t a cup contender and shouldn’t be bleeding out assets just because we’re in the playoff hunt.

It’s impossible to know what we’ll be working with. “Hockey trades”, cap dumps, major injuries, etc could all happen in the next four months.

Stop, you keep looking for gotcha moments being holier than thou over everyone else's 'whining' and you got dinged on an assumption. Attacking other posters will get you infractions...consider this a friendly warning.

Yes people complain a lot and some of those complaints are silly but it doesn't automatically mean every last criticism of a player or management falls under that umbrella.
bro even agreeing with people makes you mad? get over yourself, it's just the internet

Dude, I’m not a moderator and don’t pretend to be one. You asked a question and I tried to step up and answer it.

He’s not banned here or something. One person quoted one of his tweets that expressed an opinion about Fitz’s team building.

The problem with him this summer was he was talking out of his ass about Bratt and his contract. Rumor mongering for attention is bad and fooled people. That’s why people didn’t want to see his tweets or discuss them anymore.

I don’t know if anyone is going to be posting his grand insights anytime soon considering everyone’s response this time was “not this asshole again, I dream of doing him bodily harm”.

Random twitter profiles only become relevant in the offseason

Whoever this is about wont matter once there are five twitter profiles covering Devils news weekly

Side note but I havent had a social media profile outside forums since 2014. You all should try it sometime

Why would Johnsson's contract be fully nulled in terms of NHL AAV on November 1st? Since hes a one-way doesnt his contract only offer minimum+325k relief?

Either he is traded or the Devils and Johnsson decide to mutually terminate his contract, that's how.

There's something to be said about gaining playoff experience for the kids.

I think you have to balance that vs what you'd get for Severson and how Nemec looks at the deadline.
