Only Positive, imo, is Bratt and Hughes.

That's it.

Everything else is garbage.

And speaking of garbage, give me your 3 "goats" of the game. :eviltongu

*note : I left Bratt and Hughes name out because they don't belong in this list (and to make sure that xigon person doesn't vote for Bratt again. :p: )

Nothing at all positive in this game. It was a total collapse.

Felt more like the final nail in the season than anything else.

Fix the goaltending. Find someone who can finish. Rise and repeat.

They were actually fine tonight. Not a bad performance at all.

Ruff was still coaching those games. This is a take the makes no sense. Stop pinning goaltending on Ruff.

Well the 'Nas is a better coach' also has to do with the pre-pandemic stretch in 2020 more than the three games this year where Lindy was still involved. I mean maybe that's true, but it's not like Nas is going to be the guy coaching if this team ever gets good again regardless.

Who is the mystery coach everyone thinks is going to be able to fix this?
We need someone who can provide these kids a basic system that preaches structure and simplicity in the d-zone. Who is out there that is proven they can do that and isn't just a band-aid who will wear out his welcome sooner rather than later (a la Torts)? I'm being mostly rhetorical but if someone has a realistic option I'm just overlooking please enlighten me.

Even if that coach existed and could be brought in - he isn't fixing the goaltending, and the forwards we have aren't better than what they are showing so we aren't going to suddenly become an offensive dynamo. Lemaire himself wouldn't be able to turn this unbalanced, buttery soft group into something they aren't.

They could probably get away with being like a 9 or 10 seed if we had an absolute rock star between the pipes.

This season feels long and we're not even playing. Bratt is really playing at a very high level. Hughes is already ridiculous in many parts of his game. He's a gambler. I'll live with some of his warts. Siegenthaler has been a revelation for me. Bastian and McLeod, for their roles have not been terrible at all. Mercer has been ok on the whole. Nico I'm also happy with as a 2C. I love his character and board work. It feels like he's had the crap kicked out him.

I'm really struggling with everyone else:
- Goaltending: yeah...well....
- Severson: Really good when not stressed, bit of a gambler, not great around the crease
- Graves: More warts as the season progresses; need his Hamilton binky back
- Subban: Invites issues that he then has to clean up; way too slow making decisions in the offensive zone - ok in a third pairing role as he's simplified his game; needs new sticks
- Smith: Was having a better second quarter than the first quarter but still...regression; terrible in corners and lacking some physical tools right now
- Jaros: replaceable
- White: Had some hiccups; might be ok as a 7th

- Shara: Last year seems like luck in hindsight
- Kuokk: Replaceable
- Zacha: I've given up hopes he'll ever be consistent enough to impact anything
- Tatar: There's a reason teams have given up on him. I think he's still a smart, talented player, but he just cannot physically compete - sort of reminds me of "end-of-the-career-Sykora"
- Vesey: Replaceable - regressed from the start of the year; not a lot of finish in his game
- Johnsson: trade bait - he just gets pushed around too much but I love his heart; not finding the space he had with Bratt

I would not mind seeing Studenic, Zetterlund or Clarke get some play. I know Clarke is injured. I will look forward to Walsh and Ohityuk's cup of coffee.

Nas seems like a better motivator, but beyond that there isn't a difference.

What exactly did Hughes and Bratt do that they are not included in the Everyone category? Seven shots, no goals and -1 for the "all-star" and more Ice Capades-esque perimeter play from Jesper.

Saw a lot more combativeness from Bastian and Johnsson than the occasional flourishes and defensive indifference of the "top line".

Hughes and Bratt did score the one goal and were at least threatening for many shifts. They seemed to be the only two who could enter the zone reliably.

Chico was super positive tonight. Did admit the 1st and only one on Gillies was a bit soft and should have been stopped. I don't know. Didn't think we'd be a playoff team yet but, couldn't imagine we'd be this pitiful either. Some of this s@%& comes down to some poor luck. Like our goaltending tandem going down to injuries and pucks to faces. Ruff!

Went to just my second game of the year tonight. Thank God I got free tickets and parking.

I've never felt more disconnected from a team. Partially because I can't watch them on TV anymore, but also because I just can't stand watching some of these players.

Hopefully we can turn the corner soon, but we've been saying that for 8 years now.

Daws and Schmid have had two consecutive AHL starts each since their return.

Daws stopped 34 of 38 in an OTL and 24 of 28 in an L for a .879 SV% over the two games.

Schmid missed a shutout with 2:14 remaining, stopping 34 of 35 and 27 of 30 in a 6-3 win for a .938 SV% on a B2B.

edit: Yeah I got that way wrong.

Daws had two non-consecutive starts. Schmid had one start.

Mitens had the OTL not Daws. Daws had the 6-3 win and the 4-3 loss. Schmid had the 4-1 win.

So, Daws stopped a combined 51 of 58 for a .879 SV% and Schmid had a .971 in his one win.

Replacing the head coach and staff is not going to make this a better team for a season.

The lack of a good defensive unit that includes the goaltending is holding this team back along with the lack of NHL talent on the offensive. Sure there are players like Bratt, Highes, & Nico on offense but there isn't enough support players.

It will take more money and years to fix this mess if fixing means they make the playoffs in back to back years. Too much time has been wasted with the Devils rebuild strategy. Poor selection of players to do the job of being competitive defensively that includes goaltending.

I am sad to say that I say the same thing every season.
