I hate to be on the Auvitu wagon, but he's kind of like a better Moore IMO.

Moore makes a lot of mistakes, but he doesn't get walked around on a regular basis. Auvitu gets a lot of shots off, but I still have nightmares about how many odd man rushes we were allowing early in the year.
The fact that Parenteau and Bennett have been a healthy scratch in games that Kalinin and DSP were playing, really make me wonder if Hynes cares about a possession game at all. You don't even need advanced stats to see if these guys are better than some of his favorites. He'll probably tell you he cares about possession, as would any coach. Then he'll show you something else when you see what he ices.I'll do it for you. Major mistake we are playing Moore over Auvitu. Very questionable talent evaluation.
UghI think Ryan has 5 more years left at 7

I can't imagine him being the highest paid player on this team right now. I'd rather take him in a deal where Ottawa retains significant salary than send a bag of pucks for his entire cap hit.
He's not a bad player, as much as I like to make fun of him. He's just not a $7 million dollar player.
Ryan at $5.5 million would be pretty fair, at least for now. He's still been a 50 something point guy the last few years (had 48 in 70 games in 13-14 but still on pace for 50+ over 82 games), but this year he's on pace for under 40 and lower than a half a point per game. I was about to say that while he isn't worth anywhere near $7 million, he would probably be our second best forward after Hall. His numbers this season don't look good at all though.I would take Ryan at 5-5.5 other than that no way
There is definitely some interesting options on D to be picked up. Very interested to see what happens. It has to be improved before next season.
Thats until Merrill is back so probably 3LD.Having to debate who should play 2LD between Moore/Auvitu shows how badly we need another guy on the left side.
LD should be our top priority TBH.

Maybe Parenteau is being scratched because the team wants to have one of its top PKers in. Maybe Parenteau has a bad attitude, which is why he's been on 5 teams in 4 years. Maybe that's why he, as a 40-point scoring 33-year old, didn't get signed until preseason.
I'm a Kalinin fan, not enough to defend him to the death, but the possession stats lie. Parenteau starts 53% of his shifts in the offensive zone (offensive zone faceoffs or he changes when the team is in the OZ). Kalinin starts 29%, one of the lowest totals in the league (they deploy him as a defensive specialist). That will have a monumental effect on Corsi, explaining at least the 8 points that separate them. If Hynes is looking for a 4th line that can suppress shots, he should trust Kalinin 10 times out of 10 over Parenteau.
There are two sides to every story. Until Hynes explains why he would bench some guys over others, it's silly to speculate to such an extreme.
Oh please. There is no way PAP should get scratched for someone who provides as little as Kalinin does.
Moore has been productive thus far which is why I like him over Lovejoy.(nothing in his career actually leads me to believe that's sustainable.) On face value, it looks very likely watching both play that Auvitu would outscore Moore over a large sample size.
But even if you don't believe in possession at all, Auvitu is first on the team amongst defenseman while Moore is last. They have drastically different corsi numbers. It's a no brainer to me Auvitu should be the one up. We've seen Moore struggle for years now on this team.
Auvitu does that with close to 70% offensive zone starts in sheltered minutes and still hasn't produced enough offense to make up for his defense. There has been nothing to suggest he would out score Moore. You see what you want to see.
