Hi Friends, not sure where to turn, hoping someone here can help. About 10 days ago I changed my GMAIL password, some strange stuff coming into my emails, thought changing up the password would be wise. I don`t use obvious passwords and I wrote this one down on a piece of paper, left it on my desk at work and didn`t really think about it. I turned it over so nothing was on the paper if anyone was to come in but the evening cleaner had to have tossed it and poof, no clue what I changed password to

Went to check emails and said I was locked out and when I tried to sign in, I couldn`t remember password, Gmail asked for my phone number for confirmation of account when I pressed "Forgot Password" then it said it sent a link to my gmail to help me reset my password. All my bills go to this account and some other things. It says I have had too many failed attempts and come back in a few hours

Woke up today and tried it again and same thing, gmail sent link to a bloody gmail account I can`t access. I`m not super techy in the least, thought if I started another gmail account I could link the two but of course it needed my password for my primary email to do so. I`m at my wits end, any help would be so appreciated

I followed some link page to recover accounts too and that didn`t work..PM`s more than welcome, thank you

It doesn't make sense for them to send the "reset password" link to the same gmail account that you can't access. Are you sure that they didn't send it to a different address that you set as your recovery address? If it's also a gmail address, then try to log into gmail with that address and whatever password that it's always been.

Alternately, if you updated the gmail/mail app on your phone with the new password, then it should've automatically saved it and you should be able to access the "reset password" e-mail through it.

Finally, if you're still stuck, you should probably contact the gmail support team.

Hopefully you've figured this out by now, but my unhelpful anecdote is that my wife had to abandon a 10+ year old Google account after getting locked out in similar fashion. They were absolutely not willing to take any alternate form of ID.
