Hatcher started off strong and then just completely wore out. Langdon was such a great tactical fighter. This is pretty much how every Langdon fight went, wear his opponent out and then completely take the fight over. Smart.

I've seen Langdon cut players up and/or hurt players now and again but for a heavyweight he didn't have the greatest punch power. That said he was smaller than most of the heavyweights of his era and he never backed down from any of them and he could go forever and punch with both hands and his hands were quick and he wouldn't give up. Jay Miller had some of those qualities too. If a fight got to a minute or more Langdon would start to wear opponents down and quite often they'd be hanging on waiting for the officials to save them.

The 80's and 90's and early 2000's some of those players were really really tough. Fighting 20/30 times a year....a lot of them long ones with lots of blows landed. You don't see that many fights these days last more than a half minute and if a half dozen to a dozen punches land between the fighters that's one of the better ones. In the past those would have been snorers.

That said the concussion thing is a real issue and it's better this way.
