Bill Ranford is still tending goal? Amazing. I think this puts Dallas in the playoffs.

The most interesting player in this deal is probably Peters. Hache and Troock are on expiring contracts and struggling to cement themselves as AHL regulars. Ranford is an AHL vet scorer who isn't scoring this year and also on an expiring deal. Peters is an NHL/AHL tweener on an expiring deal and the most likely to see NHL time before the end of the year.

Wow another big trade. This is like the biggest afternoon of NHL trading since Subban/Weber and Hall/Larsson happened in the summer.

Wow, Peters has really fallen at this point. He's a bad AHL goalie by now.
Peters has always been bad. He can't read a play and spends the entire game overreacting to everything happening in front of him and leaving huge portions of the net open, coupled together with horrific rebound control. I've watched Peters play about 100 games and I can say with no exaggeration that he was terrible in at least 90 of them. Whether or not the other team scores 2 goals or 6 is going to be based entirely on whether or not they can capitalize on his endless rebounds and wide open nets he leaves them. His "good games" are just ones where he got lucky or had some amazing defensive play in front of him.

The Caps gave him a two-year one-way deal based on a 19 game sample size where the Hurricanes were playing the most defensive style imaginable to compensate for him and immediately regretted it.

Purely coincidental, but Arizona seemed to have picked up quite a few sons/relatives of notable NHL players in recent years. Brendan Ranford is Bill Ranford's nephew. Tucson will now feature Ranford along with Ryan MacInnis, Henrik Samuelsson, and Jarred Tinordi. To go along with Max Domi, Connor Murphy, and Jakob Chychrun on the big club (and Brendan Perlini's dad had a cup of coffee in the NHL).

Two Justins for a Brendan and a Branden? Has there ever been a four player trade with less variety in the first names?

I really doubt thats why the trade happend but at the same time cant figure why these two teams would trade these piles for eachother

Brendan Ranford has been a good AHL player the last few seasons made the AHL All-Star once or twice but kind of lost this spot this year to younger players. Trook has been AHL bottom liner / ECHL-er so far.

Trading for another AHL goalie can't hurt . Neither Lagace , Desrosrier or Bow have been good this year. His stats on Tuscon look terrible though. Don't know if thats any kind of improvement over young guys trying to figure it out fighting for a spot.

Can't decide what's more disappointing, this trade or the same old sarcastic posts being made in this thread that people still somehow find funny.
