Hold a candle to the great Wayne Gretzky. He will not even come close to Gretzky's point totals as they will never be broken ever, ever, ever again. 92 goals, 163 assists and 215 points are untouchable!!!! Crosby will be a great talent but will only put up Joe Sakic type numbers which are between 100-120 points at the most. There will never be another Gretzky. lets face it everybody!! Ovechkin will be maybe near Jagr and Crosby maybe near Sakic and that is it, which is very good but we are all still waiting for the next huge talent to come along which could be quite a while yet I think!

How long did it take you to think this up? Gretzky is the greatest player of all time, there is no other and never will be.

Those records will fall someday.

But not all to the same person.

But you don't need records to be considered great. If only people would let Crosby do whatever it is he's going to do, he'd be even better.

The game of hockey has changed significantly over the many years, technology has created bigger equipment, faster players, different strategies to shut down teams. Gretzky's records will not be broken unless the NHL turns into the QMJHL. However, the NHL is trying to open up the game and have increased scoring, so if that evolves, then just maybe Gretzky's records will be broken.

Its not about stats, get that straight. I don't want to have to tell you that again. You can not compare the NHL stats of today against the stats from then. A 140 is 215 back then 215 would be like 380. The defence is just way to good, Gretz would'nt score more then 150 now a days even if he was in his prime.

Gretzky put up 62 points in 70 games 4 years ago and 90 points in 82 games a year before that. If Gretzky was in his prime and surrounded with talent, he would come much closer to replicating his numbers than 140 points.
