Holland is going to be "promoted" up and out at the end of the season and Ilitches want to sell the next GM on the ability to name his own coach (among other things of course) to have a clean break and new regime overhaul.

Both kinda deserved it though. Neither were playing inspired hockey before they were benched. You can't let players who aren't elite get to pretend they deserve ice time just because.
