Leading scorer in the AHL and top 10 in PIM's. Dude was AHL Gordie Howe this year. Helps so much to have a winning (or at least competitive) culture in the AHL, so glad he's sticking around.
1-way so may be getting a chance to stay up or just a financial detail?
Just a financial detail. Means he gets the same $$$$ if he's in Tempe or Tucson. A 2-way contract has a different $$$ split and generally looks more like $800k NHL / $80k AHL.

You can look back at his past seasons and the salary for each one. Capfriendly estimates his career earnings at $900k ... sick that he's going to make almost as much just next season. Great day for the Carcone family.

The temptation to swap Kassian out for Carcone was too much to pass up. Also rewards a good soldier while getting rid of a bad one.
Hoping he gets a long look in camp. He hasn’t earned himself a roster spot, but he’s certainly earned every opportunity to snag a regular role. Hope he does it

Between Carcone, OBrien, Smith, Jenik and Keleman, we have enough talent and competition for that 12th forward spot.

And if Bill wants more competition for that spot, he can find another guy to sign.

Those guys should only be in the running for the very worst NHL teams. So it fits.

I disagree.
O'Brien is the only one that has had a proper chance. We know what he is. The rest are TBD.
Carcone tore up the AHL last season. He could be more than a replacement level NHL player. I know he's old for a guy breaking in to the league but his next few years could be very interesting.

As for Smith, Jenik and Keleman... it would be nice to see them torch the AHL before graduating. And maybe that's what they'll have to do to get a proper chance. But most NHLers were never held to that standard.
