Only question is how you re-sign Laine? You have to probably have to move another one of the top 6 wingers at the least.

Like, what the hell is Jarmo's actual plan here? Oscillating between reasonable, disastrous, and chaotic moves.

Right now, GM's don't who to talk to, should they talk to Johnny's agent, to Johnny or to Johnny's wife?

The 2 concerns I have in this scenario is I think its a year too soon to pull out of the rebuild and it also basically locks the team into it current center depth. Puts a lot of pressure on Sillinger to improve at a minimum a 2nd line center which he looks to be well on his way to and possibly Johnson sticking at center. Jenner between Laine and Gaudreau would be very good but at the same time Calgary witnessed the difference between Monahan to Lindholm at center

On pure value alone, Johnny should be a 9-9.5M player. How the hell he is gonna get 11.5m+ is beyond me.

Teams around the league won't be happy with that contract.

Marner got 11M straight up from ELC.
Tavares got 11M, Karlsson 11.65, Panarin 11.5M.

This would be in the same category but not the one where teams would fully lose it

I have decided ultimately to file this under "you can't win if you don't play." I don't expect to see Gaudreau in union blue anytime soon.

Yes considering he likely wouldn't even be a PPG player in Columbus.

Columbus scored 260 some goals last year, that's a bit above average.

I'd say that of Calgary without Gaudreau and Columbus without Gaudreau, Columbus might actually be ahead in goals.

Seems like the mentality and ability to sign Miller to a long term contract.

We would gladly accept Peeke (you have Gudbranson now you won't be needing him /s) a '23 1st, and Marchenko

I'm not seriously suggesting that proposal, but Miller at 9 AAV plus a 3 million dollar bonus player would probably provide similar, if not better value than Gaudreau at 12

The reported offers for Gaudreau are just ridiculous. There is going to be a gold-plated, double-barreled case of buyers remorse coming soon.

This right here is why you always test free agency, *cough* Malkin *cough*.

All miller does is take goals and time away from Laine.

I don't think Kekalainen values Miller anywhere near as highly.
