That's about as good of potential in a draft class as you're going to find, expansion team or other.
Two forwards with top six potential, and two defensemen with top four potential, and another forward with solid bottom six potential from within the first two rounds.
Absolutely. It's an excellent way to start this team!
And just think – in addition to using our own picks on Glass and Hague, we were able to draft those other three guys simply by doing the following:
- Trading away TVR and a 2018 7th round pick
- Taking on the contracts of David Clarkson and Mikhail Grabovski (which are both paid by insurance)
- Not selecting Joonas Korpisalo, Jack Johnson, or anyone from Winnipeg and the New York Islanders in the Expansion Draft
PLUS, we also got Jake Bischoff and three 2019 draft picks (two 2nd round picks + 3rd round pick) in those transactions.
