I think it’s important to remember that the “speculation” regarding Reid was one bullshit Florio report that got shut down by just about everyone else, including Reid himself.

Anyway, this is a no brainer. Veach has missed on some things but has done a wonderful job restocking the defense while locking up key vets. If he can address OT and WR over the next year or two they’ll be sitting pretty. Maybe Reid burns out before the end of the contract but I’m sure with the floor of the Mahomes era being the AFCCG it’s easier to grind through seasons. If he sees out the contract Mahomes will be 32 and Jones and Kelce will be gone, it’ll be time for a reset anyway. Excited to see how it all goes.

it makes sense from a perspective of nobody has to worry about it, or be asked questions about it by the media, it is done and in the books, even if Reid only planned to go another 2-3 years, he doesn't have to deal with negotiations, and can stick around probably as long as he wants to

Reid can still opt to retire before the end of the contract. If he enjoys it and his health holds up, which is the main question, given the extra weight he carries.
