Ignat is a Slavic name, usually short for Ignatius.

I'm reminded of a former Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff.
I dont know any Russian, but I was thinking Ignatiev might be more modern transliteration.

And that -ieff vs. -iev is a funny thing, Miikka Kiprusoff's passport says Kiprusov, and his official name in Finnish records for active business' is Kiprosov.

He was very good for Mora as they reached the semifinals in Hockeyallsvenskan, the second division of Swedish hockey (same team as Brandsegg-Nygård), so I'm not surprised someone took a chance in him.

EDIT: In Swedish at least, Russian names that in English are spelt with a ch are spelt with a tj (cf. Kovalchuk vs. Kovaltjuk) which I guess would make the original name correspond to Ignachev in the standard English spelning.

I'm curious about him, compared to other goalies in the 2nd Swedish League, he had a phenomenal season.

Interesting. I kind of thought young goalies was already a position of strength organizationally. Not opposed to it or anything. Just makes me wonder if the college Russian or Russia Russian are not willing to sign.
