I drafted him in NHL18. He's developed well and is on a top pair next to Sergei Matthews.
Must be thinking of a different player. Chatfield is 25 and has always had AHL potential. Until this years version was rated 67 or less as well. in 18 He would have been 21 and too old to draft and already belonging to Vancouver.

Nope, same guy. The key is to adjust the sliders, hopefully Waddell has a plan for that.
Man I am usually a glass half full guy but he was the one guy on Vancouver who I felt the need to bitch about last season, he was so bad in every facet of the game. This must be for their AHL club right?

I think that's the assumption. We have 6 veteran defensemen for the NHL roster (Slavin, Pesce, DeAngelo, Skjei, Bear, Cole) plus Jake Gardiner as a possible 7th man depending on his health.

At best, Chadfield will be in competition for the pressbox role against several other contenders (Keane, Lajoie, maybe McKeown, anyone else they sign between now and then). I'd expect him to spend the season in the AHL with maybe a brief emergency callup or something.

It was stunning when we had him playing with Hughes. Not an NHL defender lol he’s not even a #7/8..

I’m shocked an NHL team gave him a contract tbh. I thought only Benning would since he had some sort of affinity for him.

He played here in Utica (AHL)for a couple of years.. man can this kid skate!! His speed allows him to track down opponents from behind. Not big or physical, and a black hole offensively. This is more of an AHL signing than anything......

Looked out of place in the NHL, evening the AHL he just looked average to me whenever I watched. Doesn't help that he's undersized as well, he does battle hard but that's just not enough to make up for his shortcomings. Seems like a decent guy though so good for him.

This is an AHL signing so pretty insignificant move.

Chatfield is a very meh AHL right-handed d-man. No goals in his last 3 pro seasons playing 100 games over AHL/NHL and only a handful of assists. If you need a RD body and he's your 10th d-man maybe it's not a problem.
