Trotz just does not trust our young players. 11 minutes for Vrana who looked really good. Is that how you develop your young players? Not giving them a chance even when they look good.

I think OVs problem is not enough ice time early in the games, difficult to get into the game and flow sitting on the bench.

Could be. Then again, it's also partly under 8's control. If he would start out the game crushing people and firing everything at net, Trotz would definitely make the TOI adjustment

That's Mojo's fifth game winner this season. Think the Caps have only lost one game when he's scored, too.

Go Mojo!

Mojo, Carlson and Ovi each played over eight minutes in the first period according to Joe B. Ovi still don't have a shot on net for most of the game.

Get Vrana with Backstrom, keep the defense the same from the end of the game.

Johansson buys Trotz another few games at the helm.

Lol what? No.

This regular season means zero. Nothing. His fate will be decided in the playoffs. There is enough talent on this team to sleep walk through the regular season, get a 5/6 seed, turn it on and win a Cup.

On the top 6, yeah.

The defense and the bottom 6 are still big question marks.

Yes, because if there's one thing that both Barry Trotz and the Capitals are known for, it's having teams suddenly turn it on and take deep runs for the Cup.

We're one of the best teams in the league right now (best or second best?) in goals against. Niskanen and Carlson are the only two D for whom it's surprising they've yet to score, but they've got a fair number of assists each.

It's the bottom six that gives everyone concern right now. However, if we keep Vrana when Oshie returns we might look a little better...

If that third line can gel, we'd be a great team.

I'm wondering if one of the reasons Mojo is doing well is because of increased ice team - it wasn't uncommon last year to see his ice time somewhere around the 15 minute mark in a game - he's playing 17-20 minutes a game right now, with better linemates than a lot of last year. It's nice to see him and Backstrom come into their own a bit more - very easy on a team like this to be the guy who's undershadowed by the likes of Ovi. If Mojo and Nicky weren't shooting we'd be dead last in the league.
