With Sergachev going to LTIR, Bolts are in a unique position where they have cap space but minimal assets to trade.

Are there any highly overpaid but good LD's on the market on one year deals, that could be acquired for basically nothing? This list is probably quite small, but it's a trade that could help both teams out.

One scenario for instance could be a team jettisoning their overpaid dman to Tampa to gain cap space and upgrade from another team.

I know that Myers has been playing a lot better this year but maybe the Canucks would be interested?
They could then get Tanev and another depth piece (or 2) with the space.

Edit: nevermind, forgot he is a RD.

Not a particularly great list of LHD on expiring deals. Hanifin will net a decent return if Calgary moves him. Most of the interesting names are on teams vying for the playoffs. Alex Goligoski checks off the boxes of not costing much in assets and being on a likely seller, but not sure how he's playing nowadays.

Maybe a handful of impending RFAs who might not get QOs in the offseason? But that list would be short and not particularly compelling.

Ghost. Provided Tampa only cares about Sergachev's production and not any semblance of defense. Then the Wings can go big fish hunting... or more reasonably bring up Edvinsson.

Thank you for the list. Yeah Hanifin would get Calgary some nice assets, we are simply looking for someone paid way past his worth but still has something to offer

We could do that, Ghost is exactly the type of guy I’m thinking of

If Vegas has interest in Hanifin (3 scouts at the CGY/NJ game) they could move Martinez to clear some cap to also add a wing.

Looking at the teams out of the playoffs with LHD, Minnesota have several and Goligoski is a pending UFA who could do a job. I'd be surprised if he'd cost much to get.

20% retained for Conor Sheary? Cap is almost a wash at that retention bit you get one less year of term. Tampa hopes Goodrow can get back to what he was under Cooper before because Sheary isn't working. New York gets a lateral player but less term and can bury or buy out to save even more cap.

I could see ghost in Tampa, but Yzerman couldn’t. Let’s face it at this point Detroit’s biggest obstacle getting into the playoff is Tampa Bay. They’re not gonna do anything to make the Lightning better.
