No they don't. Prior to the new CBA, if a player was traded before his NTC had kicked in the new team didn't have to honour it. But a NTC that is in effect doesn't disappear on a new team just b/c it was waived for a trade.

Even at 25-30, he's a declining asset making 6.5 million for one year before needing a new contract.
