Elliote Friedman reports that the Canucks are among the interested parties in Aston-Reese, who is arguably the most coveted college UFA this season.

His stats:

Regular Season Playoffs
Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM +/- GP G A Pts PIM
2010-11 Des Moines Buccaneers USHL 2 0 0 0 2 1 -- -- -- -- --
2010-11 Lincoln Stars USHL 25 2 3 5 4 1 1 0 0 0 5
2011-12 Lincoln Stars USHL 53 5 10 15 69 -4 8 1 2 3 8
2012-13 Lincoln Stars USHL 60 9 21 30 113 14 5 3 2 5 4
2013-14 Northeastern University H-East 35 8 11 19 22
2014-15 Northeastern University H-East 31 13 10 23 60 8
2015-16 Northeastern University H-East 41 14 29 43 28 19
2016-17 Northeastern University H-East 37 31 32 63 72 14

Figured he's a big enough name to merit his own thread.

Never heard of him. But that 63 pts in 37 games looks pretty impressive, is that considered good in that particular league level?

EDIT: and if he's good it's really less about how much interest we have in him, and more about how interested he is in OUR team.

I hope Vancouver's lowly position as a team lean on forwards to compete for spots acts as a draw for us, kind of how I feel Justin Shultz decided on Edmonton over us all those years ago. The benefit for Reese would be a faster route to the NHL and a bigger paycheque sooner.........however our current team is not very enticing and I believe their is a trend where players want to jump onto teams that are trending towards success ala the Oilers, where we once again lost out on Cagguila

Fingers will be immensely crossed on this one

hehe I'm not gonna expect much. I read that Penguins also interested, and if I was Reese I'd go for the Penguins for sure.

Hope the fan base doesn't go off the deep end again when he decides on another team.

Vesey was the better prospect coming out.

From what I have read, expect him to be a third liner, with a legit chance of moving up to the second line.

I also hope that the Canucks sign him, but what I've read suggests he projects as a player in the bottom six.

Chance to play with mcdavid and the new arena i imagine will sway him like it did caggiula.

Edmonton and ottowa always seem to be in the running for the same players we are out of college.

Actually i see oil fans already have an article up, was at the oilers development camp in 2016 and is a former teammate of matt benning.

Sometimes these guys work out, sometimes they don't. Would be a worthwhile signing though given what he showed this year (much better signing than some of the wasted contracts to those overager Q players Benning has gone after).

Aston-Reese has seen 20 point improvements in each of his past two seasons so he has developed.

Make my day.
Canucks really need to talk up how badly run the team is because teams that suck balls offer a good chance of NHL pay quicker.

I think the Canucks would be lucky enough to sign Gaudette let alone a teammate of his. I just don't see the team as very compelling to sign with
